I did not notice this until John Allen, who is a buddy but also happens to be a competing Realtor for Google rankings in Sarasota, brought it to my attention. Our local newspaper, the Sarasota Herald Tribune, has a blog section called Inside Real Estate. The blog author does a great job of keeping residents of Sarasota, Florida on what is happening in the real estate market. He writes about interesting sales, market updates, new listings, lending and bank news, real estate brokerages going out of business, Realtors moving firms, and a whole bunch of other interesting stuff.

Google Keyword tool is a useful tool to see what people are searching for as well as get ideas on other phrases to target.
Here is a cropped screen shot of the Google keyword tool page. Here I searched for "Sarasota real estate". There are 3,600 global monthly searches and 2,900 local monthly searches. Recently, I asked a few people around Activerain if they were up for some link trading ideas. I was a bit surprised by how few people were interested. Everyone wants their site to rank well but it seems like not many people want to build links. One person went for it - thank you. Another person told me that their "marketing guru" thought that getting links was a waste of time. A waste of time? Obviously, that marketing guru does not know much about search engine optimization. Should you buy a keyword rich domain name or one that is memorable? People have debated this topic before. Experts on both sides have made compelling arguments.
Personally, I have always liked the keyword rich domain names. It makes me feel like I am doing something right when Google bolds the section of the URL with the phrase you just searched.
