Cut and Paste Code For A Self Updating Real Estate Video Widget (Works on Wordpress.com Too!) - 06/30/07 09:48 PM
Here is the code from vidlisting.com to put properties from Panama on your website. Each property is offered by an ACOBIR member which is the local real estate association. As CIPS members know, ACOBIR has an agreement with NAR that ensures the payment of referral fees to US REALTORS.
Placing the following code into your website will configure a vertically oriented widget that will let you highlight 3 ACOBIR member represented properties. The widget will auto update property videos with english narration as we add new properties from ACOBIR members in Panama without having to change any code. Cut and … (3 comments)

http://vidlisting.com/ and the ForSaleByLocals network of websites is pleased to announce that we have met our profitability goals for the month of June 2007.  Real estate video and narration income for the month exceeds our total monthly costs for the first time (this includes costs not directly related to real estate video).  Our stated goal in January 2007 was to be break even by June 2007 with only real estate video income and we have met that goal.
Official Announcement: http://forsalebylocals.wordpress.com/2007/06/28/profitability-goals-for-june-met-solely-on-real-estate-video-revenues/

The Real Estate Video Manifesto - 06/27/07 02:03 PM
We figured that it was time to post a clear statement about our vision with respect to real estate videos.
The Real Estate Video Manifesto
1)  Visitors want to view prospective properties as part of their online experience using their sense of sight and hearing.  Real estate video therefore must be large, interesting, and have great audio preferably in a language comfortable to the viewer in order to maximize the sensual experience.
2) The first weeks of any listing are critical. In order for a real estate video to be most effective, it needs to be made available to a ready audience of prospective buyers … (0 comments)

Vidlisting.com Extends Real Estate Video Infrastructure To Corporate Partners - Beta Testing Starts This Monday - 06/23/07 08:53 PM
We will be beginning targeted portions of our beta test starting on Monday with a small but very distinguished group of well established corporate and organizational partners. One of the small things that we can announce now is that we'll be extending our online video infrastructure to corporate sites - the same large, clear, and non-buffering video in multiple languages that you enjoy on http://vidlisting.com/ will be easily and transparently available on corporate websites/real estate portals starting on Monday.
We already have lined up a fair number of corporate and organizational partners.  The beta officially starts on Monday with some local partners in Panama and we will … (0 comments)

Putting Up The Beta Tag Again While Pushing Forward Real Estate Video - 06/17/07 05:06 PM
We have finished a number of exciting changes to our real estate video functionality.  We'll be taking the wraps off of portions of the front end and back end functionality as early as this week or next week on our site.  Certain other individual focused functionality changes will be initially made available only to a small set of end user beta testers that we will be working with. There is also a set of corporate focused functionality changes that will be rolled out to a group of corporate customers.  Note that few of the corporate focused functionality changes will appear on our site(s) at all. We'll point you to … (0 comments)

Why Sexy Isn't Always Best On Real Estate Websites - 06/16/07 07:03 PM
I have a client with a real estate website that is absolutely beautiful.  It is almost a work of art.
There are two problems however:
#1 - Google No Likee 100% Flash: The site in question is written 100% in Flash.  The SEO issues are so bad that the client cannot specifically search in Google for an exclusively marketed development on his site using his agency name and the development name and have any of the results point to his site.
#2 - No Source Code: My client cannot make any changes to the website because they don't have a copy of the flash … (18 comments)

Obeoman Tears On Real Estate Video - 06/12/07 08:31 PM
I was over at http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/members/VideoHomes/ today (actually someone directed me there via email). Obeoman makes a bunch of negative points about real estate video in the comments section on the left hand side dated about two weeks ago.  We put up some counterpoints there but I'll respond in more detail on our daily blog.
Read our response over at http://forsalebylocals.wordpress.com/2007/06/13/obeoman-tears-on-real-estate-video/

Property Video: 3 BR, 2BA Duplex Style Home In Alicante, Spain - 06/10/07 10:17 PM
This is the first property video that we filmed in Spain. It is about a quarter mile from the beach in the Alicante area of Spain. This area is very popular with foreigners. Being close to the city of Murcia means that this property is easily accessible by car, train, and air. Current Euro conversion means a sales price of just over US$735,000.

The house is a duplex style with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a basement. This is one of six such properties in the area. Owners have community access … (0 comments)

The Data Again Shows That YouTube STILL Isn't The Magic Elixir Even With Videos Shown Inline As Universal Search Results - 06/10/07 07:36 AM
Background
This is a followup to our initial post about the performance of real estate property on YouTube.  The initial analysis was completed prior to Google making YouTube videos playable right from search results via the Google Universal Search feature. The results were a paltry average of 16 video views within the first two weeks and a statistical mean of 8 (translation: a few videos had a lot of views which propped up the average).
This morning, we revisited YouTube to see if Universal Search had made a difference in the number of videos viewed. We used the exact same criteria as the first test … (20 comments)

How-To: Mobile Video Podcasts On Windows - 06/09/07 01:18 PM
A number of people have asked how we were able to post our podcasts so quickly to the web while in Spain.  It is really easy to explain:
Setup
We used a laptop with a PCMIA card slot (most have them), a videocamera with a firewire connection (many miniDV video cameras have them), windows moviemaker software (which comes with XP), and the startech CB1394 PCMIA Firewire Video Capture Card.  We could have just as easily used more advanced video editing software such as Adobe Premiere but "speed to web" was our consideration and not "cool and perfect in editing".
The Capture Card
The capture card can be … (16 comments)

Put Money In Your Pocket With Commissions Or Referrals From Foreign Buyers - 06/09/07 06:40 AM
There is growing evidence that the US real estate market is being bouyed by foreign buyers looking for discounted properties in the US. Anecdotally, we have known it for some time and just recently the CEO of the National Association of REALTORS has acknowledged the explosive growth stating that nearly 50% of all US real estate transactions this year are to foreigners or immigrants.
Are There Ways To Reach Out To Foreign Buyers As A US REALTOR Without Taking Language Courses?
Guess what? Chances are that foreign buyers are looking at your properties now particularly if you do business within 500 … (6 comments)

What is Better - Blogging For Business Or Blogging For Other Bloggers? - 06/06/07 12:39 AM
Does being well known by other bloggers translate into revenue?
I will use a first hand example. None of my blogs are well known...at all.  This is probably because I break most of the well established "blogging rules".  I tend to write about conceptual topics related to real estate technology or about international topics.  Short posts are not my forte. As to other really well known bloggers knowing about my blog and (gasp) actually reading what I write, I am sure that it is limited to checking on trackbacks from links included in those articles. I can count on two hands the number of comments that I … (7 comments)

Podcast With Pina Darcyl of the Viva Florida TV Show on E! Cable Channel - 06/05/07 05:53 AM
My colleague, Alicia Yabeta, recently interviewed real estate TV personality, Pina Darcyl, who hosts the Viva Florida real estate TV show on the E! cable channel in most of Latin America and some parts of the US. Time was short so we only had time for an interview in Spanish.

Real Estate Video Beta Testers Needed - 06/04/07 02:02 AM
What Are We Looking For In A Beta Tester?
We have some functionality ready for private beta testing starting in the next week.
In order to participate, you will need to have property videos, local real estate video interviews, and/or real estate video podcasts available to upload from your location and be willing to provide feedback about the process. Feedback is an essential part of the participation; silent beta testers will not continue with the testing.
What Will Happen To Your Video?
All videos will be converted to the large online video format found at http://vidlisting.com/. Videos will also be posted publically to our network of websites … (5 comments)

Interesting Real Estate Video Statistics: First Week Performance For A Property Tour - 06/04/07 12:44 AM
This post is the one week followup from our 24 hour posty (http://activerain.com/blogsview/111762/Interesting-Real-Estate-Video)
We will use the same Las Cumbres property video listing in Panama found at http://vidlisting.com/ as a reference. At the one week point, we have 484 video views for this specific property across the narrations for three languages. We will subtract the 212 views that this video had in the first 24 hours. This means that we had an additional 270 views between the end of the first day and the seventh day (average 45 video views per day for the period from day 2 to day 7) . This is again fairly typical performance … (1 comments)

Vidlisting.com Customers Travel To South America Specifically To Look At Properties Shown Via Translated Video Tours - 06/02/07 02:19 PM
What a big day for us....
This weekend, http://vidlisting.com will have the first customers traveling to South America with the specific intent to buy property that is directly attributable to translated real estate videos on our site.  We have previously helped real estate agencies to sell a number of properties as a result of our videos but these have generally been to buyers that speak  the same language as the agent.  This weekend marks the first trip hosted by vidlisting.com to close a property sale by customers that only speak English in a spanish speaking area.
http://vidlisting.com is providing all of the required logistics coordination and language support that these US customers require … (4 comments)

We have begun posting several developments and properties from Panama (all videos are available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese). If You are a U.S. REALTOR, please read below about the new NAR program with ACOBIR that will ensure referral fees.
