nar: Hard Data About International Home Buyers In The U.S.: NAR 2007 National Association of REALTORS® Profile of International Home Buying Activity - 09/28/07 06:57 AM
Hard data is starting to surface about international buyers within the United States.
I recently spoke at the South Florida REALTOR Profitability Conference sponsored by the REALTOR Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches (RAMB). When I was not teaching my real estate video workshop, I sat in the very other interesting workshops. One such workshop talked about the resources available on the RAMB website (http://miamire.com).

nar: Interesting International Related Comment From The NAR CEO At SIMA 2007 - 05/30/07 03:19 PM
We had a very busy day today at SIMA 2007 but it appears that the business of making real estate accessible in multiple languages may be the right business to be in for the long term...
The CEO of NAR, Dale Stinton, made an interesting comment today at the SIMA 2007 conference.  He said something along the lines of NAR figured into their long term planning that around the year 2015, approx. 50% of real estate transactions would involve immigrants or foreigners.  He went on to say that the actual uptake of such transactions occurred faster than they predicted and that, this year, the number of such … (0 comments)

nar: Five Sure-Fire Ways To Build An International Network Of Real Estate Prospects - 05/14/07 10:53 AM
1) Develop Marketing Materials In Targeted Languages: Nothing says "I want your business" in another language like marketing materials in another language. This approach is twofold - not only will you use these materials to attract international buyers but they should ideally be of use to some set of local community members as well. Take a look around your community and try to better uderstand the local diversity as keys to building your international focus areas.
2) Build A Local Referral Network: Language differences may not be an issue with the right approach even if you only speak English.  You may find that many of your international … (4 comments)

nar: Technical Thoughts: Moving Towards Transition Of The MLS - 03/26/07 12:13 PM
There has been a lot of discussion about a National MLS and some discussion about the technical approaches that could be used to build such a national MLS.
Most such implementation discussions that I have seen are focused on three types of implementations:
1) A single national MLS database in place of local databases
2) having local MLS databases push constant updates to a national MLS database
3) leveraging any of the growing non-MLS commercial databases (Zillow, Trulia, etc. are some the named examples)
In our technical article found at http://forsalebylocals.wordpress.com/2007/03/26/technical-thoughts-moving-towards-transition-of-the-mls/, we propose a fourth approach which might result in lower overall costs, a better transactional model, and interoperation with international … (0 comments)
