real estate video: How To Add A Custom Video Widget To A Wordpress.com Blog - 10/09/08 04:34 PM
Know someone that has a Wordpress.com outside blog that wants to be able to embed custom video widgets there without having to upload the videos again to Wordpress?

Did you know that there is now a way to upload real estate videos and podcasts to a site and get access to code that works on Wordpress.com blogs or other blogging systems that block certain types of code without doing anything special? Our example is likely best demonstrated on a Wordpress.com blog:

real estate video: Missing The Video Mark: A Post That Is A Response To A Comment - 09/20/08 06:22 AM
I've made a blog post out of a response to a comment on another post:
The Comment
Here's where most people in the industry miss the mark when it comes to video compared to virtual tours:
The REAL power in video is the portability.  It is not about "putting all your eggs in one basket".  Just because it's on YouTube doesn't mean anyone will see it there.  People don't shop YouTube for Real Estate.  Learn how to place it around through links and more importantly . . . emdbedding. 47% of people are more likely to puch a play butting than … (14 comments)

real estate video: Understanding The Real Estate Video Space - 09/18/08 07:02 AM
Did you know that real estate video companies occupy different market segments and actually involved in helping you in different ways?
We've sat down and segmented the real estate video market below.  While not definitive, it does provide a beginning framework so you can better understand the types of services that different companies provide and understand the general real estate video space a bit better:

- Video Content Producers: These are the people that actually film, edit, and/or produce real estate video. Content producers can be companies or people that work independently on a full or part time basis. Their … (12 comments)

real estate video: Upgrading The Real Estate Video Upload Form - 02/11/08 07:59 PM
We've just upgraded the vidlisting video upload form.
Why? We'd been receiving scattered reports that the geolocation section was failing on occasion for a small group of users. We also closely monitored the results of video uploads on a daily basis (number of visitors that started versus where they ended if they ultimately didnt process a video). More than a few peope were ending where others had reported a problem - time to take action.
We changed the implementation around our video upload forms as a result of our investigation.  You can try the new form as well as get information about our … (0 comments)

real estate video: Why Writing Great Property Video Transcripts Helps To Sell Properties - 01/28/08 05:34 PM
Ever heard bloggers discussing property video transcripts? Usually, they subscribe to one of three schools of thoughts about real estate video narratives:
School of Thought #1 - Property videos should be less than a minute and only have music.  Narration is an unecessary extra.
School of Thought #2 - Property videos are most effective when telling the story of a property or its surrounding community
School of Thought #3 - Property videos should focus on the abstract "lifestyle" that a property brings rather than the specific details that can be found in the listing information
But why do millions of people watch what are essentially … (5 comments)

real estate video: New Ways For Prospective Buyers To Discover YOUR Property Video - 01/05/08 09:36 AM
Discoverability of Video Content
We've previously discussed the four ways that real estate video content can be discovered online using the YouTube model. What is important is how are customers going to find the property that YOU have for sale. Our beta refresh functionality looks to break out of the limitations of that model by offering the following methods of discovering media content:
- Discoverability of your video based on social interactions
- Discoveribility of your video by interested partners within organizational groups such as blogging networks or members of a given organization
- Discoverability of your property video by prospective buyers by way of pre-negotiated syndication agreements … (4 comments)

real estate video: Adding A Bit Of Your Own Marketing Boost To Real Estate Videos - 01/04/08 05:14 PM
One of the big advantages of video marketing that isn't often mentioned is the use of video to maintain or boost the value of your own brand. Unlike other forms of marketing, video retains the original branding whether online or offline (downloaded video files, TV, DVDs, etc.)
There is value in your brand - you deserve to receive the benefits of that value in terms of attracting new customers. Think about the majority of video providers...whose brand is more prominent in their player...theirs or yours?
Using Animated Logos To "Embed" Your Own Branding In Your Real Estate Video

real estate video: Understanding The Value Equation In Virtual Tours And Video Tours - 12/29/07 01:55 PM
Someone much wiser than I once told me that a successful business either has to create value or transfer value. So, sticking with that assumption, much of the argument to date about the benefits of virtual tours versus video tours has focused on the value created. To be clear, we'll use the term, "rich media" to refer to both video and virtual tours.
Virtual Tours And Video Tours Offer Essentially The Same Level Of Created Value From The Viewer's Perspective
Created value can be based on two constructs: 1) the inherent value to a viewer in terms of showing a property and 2) the tangible … (7 comments)

real estate video: Why Are We So Attached To The YouTube Model To Distribute Real Estate Video? - 12/22/07 06:53 AM
Initial Models Have Always Been Limiting
There was a time when the world was thought to be flat. Humans just could not break out of that model.
People simply could not conceive of a round earth. They drew dragons on maps to represent falling off the edge of the world. Even though there was data from visual observation of the night skies and a fledging body of mathematicians with math that said otherwise, it took hundreds of years to break out of the existing model to the mre successful model that we have today.
Why The YouTube Video Model Is Limiting
Should the YouTube model of real estate … (9 comments)

real estate video: Hi! I Am A Real Estate Video And Feeling A Bit Socially Inept - 12/15/07 07:10 AM
I've been waiting for you to say, "hi". You've likely seen me around - I'm usually the one in a black or gray outfit with big buttons.  I know that I've seen you. Most of the time I am alone.  I dont really like it that way but mostly we have to use email to be the least bit social.
I like the way that you watch me as I tell you things that are important for you to know. Hopefully, you won't mind me saying that we are as a group generally much more social than we let on. I just dont know how to be more social.  One … (4 comments)

real estate video: Real Estate Video And The Wizard of Oz - Part 1 - 12/09/07 05:39 AM
In order to figure out how to break away from the confines of our thinking, let's look at and understand some of the constraints of the current model for real estate video....particularly property video tours.
- Where To Start: (a.k.a "we're off to see the wizard"): Generally video involves an online journey by way of an online site other than your own to upload video. Your customers/clients/coworkers/blog buddies/etc. can upload videos someplace to bring them to you and you can do the same to upload videos for them to see.
- Limiting Factors: (a.k.a. "if I only had a brain") There seem to be two chooses as far … (11 comments)

real estate video: Video Upload and Conversion: Small Public Beta of Real Estate Video Functionality Available - 12/07/07 04:41 PM
Want to try out our our new video upload and conversion mechanism and help us put a load on our system?
We'll be briefly putting a small part of the functionality online (Upload and conversion mechanism) to see what types of uploaded videos we can and cant convert (we think that we know but we'll see).  To this point, we've only had "known" video types coming from large organizations.
NOTE: these are just two beta servers that will be up for a few days but may come down at any time. Your uploaded content may be deleted at any time as well.
The process is a completely automated … (0 comments)

real estate video: Listing SOLD To Foreign Buyer That Viewed Online Video Tour - 11/29/07 07:49 PM
Just found out that another property that we highlighted with video has been sold to an international buyer. As others have pointed out, at the end of the day it is the sales of properties that matter. The broker indicted to us that the vidlisting property tour was a key part of the sales process and that the buyer initially was a lead generated from the online video tour.
Video tour in English: http://www.vidlisting.com/player/videopage.asp?vid=ksjffiejfwf4&t=v
This real estate video tour was a success all of the way around in terms of the views => leads => sales process. The video had over 1000 video views in the first twelve day period and … (2 comments)

real estate video: Are The Needs of Real Estate Brokerages and Other Organizations Being Met By Video Upload Services? - 11/29/07 10:41 AM
Conventional thinking: Go to external video upload site. Upload video. Cut and paste. Hope for visitors. Once I have more than 1 video, manage video content on a "channel" hosted and branded by another company.
New Thinking: The real estate organization has its own real estate video upload and management capability for its employees or members. The service is branded the same as the organization with the same look and feel. It can handle a wide range of selectable rich media content for all visitors, protected content for members, and paid content such as training if required. Implementation is fast … (0 comments)

real estate video: Distinctive TV - Real Estate Video Meets Luxury Property Marketing - 11/28/07 09:27 PM
Many of you know that Vidlisting.com has been working to develop a dedicated luxury multimedia program for properties across the U.S. and throughout the Americas.
Today, we announced the DISTINCTIVE TV luxury real estate video marketing program at a luxury home marketing training event for the REALTOR Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches (RAMB) in Miami. We're working to develop all of the marketing materials in order to support the new program. We'll also need to integrate this initiative into several other vidlisting.com organizational and international marketing efforts as well as finding a good fit with existing television program in Spanish.
We also have a domain name specifically for use by … (2 comments)

real estate video: Integrating Real Estate Video Content Distribution Across Blog Networks - 11/23/07 09:04 AM
I was using an application the other day that allowed me to insert any image from my hard drive into the document that I was writing. Think of this as a process involving the following chronological points: consent to adding content, search (from within a known but variable set of content choices), addition of the chosen content to my document, and consumption by users of the document.
Consent => Search => Addition => Consumption
Blogs are much like documents and real estate blog networks can be (but not limited to) groupings of like blogs by geography, common themes (commercial, luxury, etc.), … (2 comments)
