Staging has received the endorsement of NAR's economist Jed Smith.
During the keynote session at the             Massachusetts Assn of Realtors Convention 9/22/08

NAR's economist Jed Smith, Managing Director for Quantitative Research, gave 2 pieces of advice to Realtors during this financial crisis:
"Add Value to your services:1.  Marketing - realistic pricing2.  Staging - how many times do you make a first impression." Jed Smith, Chief Economist & Managing Director for Quantitative Research for NAR. 
This was included in part of Jed Smith's powerpoint presentation and live webcast from Washington.

Bay State Realtor is the Mass Assn of Realtors trade magazine and is always filled with great articles.  The March/April issue arrived at my mailbox today and it has a wonderful article:  7 Great Ways to prove your worth.   This article is directed at Realtors, but if you read between the lines and it speaks to Stagers, too!  #2 on this list is finding a Niche.  Many Stagers forget that they need to find a niche - just like Realtors!  Many Stagers struggle to get their business going and growing.  They do presentations at real estate offices and nothing happens!  If Stagers step back and consider that it is impossible … (4 comments)

Making a commitment to your work, life and career are part of the investment we make in being Stagers.  Part of that commitment is continuing education - and what better place to sharpen our skills as professionals than at a convention - whether it is StagedHomes.com convention in Chicago, IRIS convention in Nashville, or NARs past convention in New Orleans, or in my area the New England Realtor Convention in Vermont, or the Mass Assn of Realtors in Boston, MA
