Who Will We Be Celebrating Next Year? - 02/20/12 09:11 AM
After reading the Presidents' Day post by Carl Winters (If you haven't read it, I encourage you to do so), I began to wonder what 2012 will bring. Since we're in a presidential election year, we could be adding a name to next year's list of honorees or we could stay with our current President. At times like this, I wish I had a crystal ball to see what the future holds for us! So much depends on who occupies the Oval Office. By this time next year, we will have the answer. Today, I saw a news story about a little girl who averted being abducted by a man recently released from prison. The man struck up a conversation with the girl in a store and then scooped her up and headed out. Now this could have had a very tragic ending if the child had not been taught by her parents and her school to make lots of noise... kick, scream, do whatever to attract attention. I've even heard the suggestion that we should teach children to yell, "This is not my dad!" I'm sure that would get my attention! It's a sad … (5 comments)
