Raging Waters of Brush Creek - 06/10/09 01:07 PM

Kansas City's "Rainy Season."

This is Brush Creek, on the Plaza KCMO, yesterday. We were just heading back to the Prudential Kansas City Realty office after Agent Tour when we noticed the rushing water that had accumulated in the normally calm creek.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kansas City, here's what Brush Creek looked like in February when the geese were migrating.

Here it is 9 June 2009:

Water is awesome!

Annual Festival for F.I.R.E. at Browne's Market in Kansas City, MO - 06/07/09 02:35 AM
Browne's sponsored the annual fundraiser for the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education today at 3300 Pennsylvania. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people enjoyed food, drink and music by Eddie Delahunt, Mike Dugger, Enter the Hagis, the Elders, and other musicians.
F.I.R.E. is dedicated to protecting and defending the individuals' rights on our campuses.
"These rights include:
freedom of speech
legal equality
due process
religious liberty and
sanctity of conscience."***
Not only does F.I.R.E. stand up for individual rights at the university level, they also advocate for elementary age school children who have special needs. They have assisted many children … (6 comments)

In Honor of Those Who Served - 06/06/09 07:44 PM

The Liberty Memorial in Kansas City was started after World War I. Construction was delayed due to funding issues. World War II occurred and the memorial was still not finished. Eventually, the memorial was completed and now honors soldiers from all our wars.
The Liberty Memorial is now The National World War I Memorial for the United States. I highly recommend visiting the WWI Museum located beneath the Memorial. The kids will love it!

An impressive piece of architecture, the deck at the base of the obelisk offers magnificent views of the Union Station and downtown KC.

KCMO Rocket - 06/06/09 02:28 PM
Guess where this is?

On Main Street in KCMO! Have you ever noticed it? If you are coming north from the Plaza, heading towards downtown, this will be on the east side of the street. (right hand side)

See, it's on top of the old TWA Building! You may have driven by it without noticing unless you remembered to look up. I took this picture Tuesday when we were out previewing condos.
If you or someone you know is planning to buy or sell a home in Kansas City, I'd be happy to talk with you about your … (4 comments)

George Tiller Vigil in Kansas City - 06/02/09 12:10 AM
A vigil was held this evening in Mill Creek Park to honor the life of George Tiller. A graduate of the University of Kansas Medical School, Tiller served in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon. He returned to Wichita in the early 70's to take over his father's family medicine practice.

The message from all of the speakers was Pro Life means Pro Life. Shooting another human being to death is unacceptable behavior irregardless of your stance on abortion.
