The Facebook Zone - 03/31/11 10:45 PM
In this Information Age in which we live, how effective is it to spend an hour a day on facebook? How about checking emails? Do you count the time you spend on facebook as "personal interaction" with clients and friends? Does sending your friend a Birthday greeting on facebook, or in an e-card, carry the same weight as that of an old fashioned Birthday card delivered by the USPS or in person?
How much time elapses between the moment you awaken to the moment you jump on the computer to check emails? Have you ever intended to spend 5 minutes checking … (9 comments)

Sellers: Don't let anyone look at your house without their Realtor and a scheduled appointment! - 03/29/11 01:33 AM
The ReBlog is back and this story by Rose King is perfect to demonstrate how important it is for Sellers to listen when their Realtor© explains the importance of using the systems in place for showing their home to prospective buyers. Like it or not, there are bad people out there and some target homes that are listed for sale. Most truly serious buyers will have an agent; those who do not need to be directed to the Listing Agent who will then pre-qualify them. This will assure that only qualified buyers are shown into your home. Part of the process … (5 comments)

Why Would You Want A Real Estate Agent in Kansas City to Refer You To Another Agent? - 03/26/11 06:56 PM
What could a Real Estate Agent in Kansas City possibly know about real estate and agents in other states and cities? More than you might imagine. As a member of NAR, MAR, KCRAR, ABR, SRES and Active Rain, I am constantly communicating with other agents around the country - sometimes out of the country.
Why do you care who I talk to? Well, if you're like most people, myself included, you don't want a salesperson when you are buying a house, you want someone you can trust.
But how do you know which real estate agent to trust? Just ask one … (5 comments)

My Friend's Friend Chose Another Real Estate Agent and It Didn't Go So Well - 03/26/11 06:29 PM
This is a true story but we will change the names of the people and the place to protect identities. We'll call my friend Joe. Joe has a friend in, let's say Florida, who wants to move back to Kansas City. We'll call Joe's friend Betty.
Betty needs to sell her home in Florida before she can move back to Kansas City. The real estate market in Betty's city is dismal. She is anxious about being able to sell her home. Betty tells Joe all about her concerns so Joe says 'Not to worry, I have a friend in the business.' … (6 comments)

Kansas City is reported to be the number 10 destination city for people renting U-Hauls. Those of us who live here know that Kansas City is a great place to live but it's nice to see that others are finding value in our City of Fountains as well.
Why are people renting U-Haul trucks and moving to Kansas City?
Job growth
Affordable housing
And, of course, the BBQ! (I'm not sure that people really move to KC just for the BBQ but once they're here, they're sure to enjoy it!)

Strategies For Selling Your Home - 03/24/11 02:32 PM
It's springtime! Time to get your home for sale ready to present to buyers.
How do you do that? Here are a few things you can do to encourage buyers to enter the house. Remember, they have to come inside before they will want to make an offer to buy it.
1. Clean up the leaves
2. Trim the bushes and edge the lawn
3. Put out grass seed to fill in the bare spots - remember to water daily!
4. If you don't have flowers in a bed, place pots of bright colored flowers by the entrance
5. Clean … (5 comments)

Selling Condos On The Plaza In Kansas City - 03/07/11 10:41 PM

Home owners of high end properties in Kansas City often insist upon the Listing Agent being present during all showings. Here’s why:If the Listing Agent needs to be present for showings, they need to SHOW UP on time for appointments. MLS In Kansas City - 03/07/11 06:15 PM

The MLS in Kansas City was created in the 1990’s after a few Realtors© took a trip back east.  Prior to the MLS, each brokerage kept track of their own listings only. Buyers either had to hunt down each agent or find one to help them ( remember that Buyer's Agency did not exist prior to the 90's either).  Imagine how much fun that was before cell phones and the internet!
The Realtors© discovered that some brokers back east had formed a group that agreed to cooperate and share information about all the members’ listings in order to make … (0 comments)
