Discount Flying - 11/27/08 02:29 PM
This morning my husband and I left New Bern North Carolina at 7:00 am to fly to Austin Texas to spend Thanksgiving with my husband's daughter and her family. The folks at the New Bern airport continue to be friendly and helpful, but what has happened to airline service? My husband and I have flown extensively over the years and I remember, (not so long ago) when flying made me feel pampered and special. And that was in coach. Now, once you board the plane, you're on your own. I could smell breakfast but that was the fast-food take out bags (11 comments)

PROUD TO BE CHEROKEE - 11/26/08 10:41 AM
I've had some thoughts going through my head for days about being part Native American and Part European and I decided that I would share some of those thoughts as my Thanksgiving wish for all of you. I'm 1/8 Cherokee and proud of that. From all my studies I've learned that the Cherokee were good, loving, family oriented, peaceful people. My great-grandmother was of pure Cherokee ancestry and she married (not according to the laws of the land, but as far as they were concerned) my mostly French great-grandfather. These folks lived in remote, mountainous areas in middle Tennessee. Most of (5 comments)
This may be the best deal on the island. If you have not found the perfect house in the perfect location, remember, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Here's the location and you can build the perfect house. Your dream lot is waiting for you on a quiet cul-de-sac backing up to a peaceful pond and the 265 acre Roosevelt Nature Reserve. After a short walk to the beach, relax on your back porch and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Upstairs you can enjoy the view of the Atlantic Ocean to the south and that beautiful reserve to the north. (1 comments)
107 Sycamore Drive, Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512 USA What a delightful building site for your dream home at the beach. This lot is cleared and ready to build. The high, wooded lot is on a corner in a quiet, peaceful location in Pine Knoll Shores. It's just a short walk to the private marina where you can rent a slip for a very reasonable rate as a member of the desirable Pine Knoll Homeowner's Association. It's just minutes to the beach and a short drive, (or bike ride) to the country club for tennis, dining and golf. For more (0 comments)
Gratitude List - 11/26/08 02:17 AM
What do you do when you can't sleep? As a child I heard about counting sheep. I never got that. I tried it and it just didn't make any sense at all. During recovery from a serious accident I learned to simply count from 100 backward. That always worked for me. I never made it past 50. Since joining Active Rain, I usually get out of bed and read blogs. There are so many wonderful, inspiring, uplifting messages every time I come here. During the day, I have a hard time finding time. So if I can't sleep, good. I can (7 comments)
How do I save Blogs? - 11/25/08 06:08 PM
I just read a great blog Upgrading Your Home In A Down Market By: Bill Williams. I want to be able to refer back to it. Is there a way to bookmark it or save it some way so I can find it easily? I am learning something every day about Active Rain and how to do things but it seems like every day I run into something I want to do and can't figure it out. I'm driving my daughter and office manager (same person) crazy with all my questions so I want to be able to figure things (6 comments)
Bathroom Etiquette - 11/25/08 03:17 PM
Maybe there's a book out there, but I haven't seen it and I'm a voracious reader. But, shouldn't there be some rules about how one behaves in public restrooms? My office is in a large condominium office building that also houses the public library, so there's significant traffic in the public restroom. Don't get me started on the lack of housekeeping that is rampant, but come on, how hard is it to put the paper towels IN the receptacle, rather than just tossing AT it? And ladies, if you didn't think to take a personal product dispenser with you into the (7 comments)
I need Help. - 11/21/08 03:25 PM
Hello All Active Rain Pet lovers. I truly have a difficult decision to make and I've been struggling with it all day and getting mixed answers. Suddenly, I realized - Wait a minute - I have access to thousands of other pet lovers who can help me figure out the right thing to do. I have two Jack Russell Terriers. My oldest, Casey, is a 13 1/2 year old male with epilpsy. About a week ago he started acted really sick, staggering, refusing to eat and gagging. I took him to the vet where (after $532 worth of tests) I learned (5 comments)
You're all invited to a PITY PARTY! Tonight at 9:00 eastern standard time, just go ahead and whine, complain and feel sorry for yourself all you want. Have some chocolate! You deserve it! The market sucks. My portfolio is dwindling away by the minute. My dog is sick. Buyers can't make a decision and sellers are totally unrealistic about prices. The tax appraisals are outrageous. Just when I'm getting old enought to be falling apart, my insurance rates went up and my deductible went from $250 to $1500. And why do I always have to wait to see the doctor? (4 comments)
Thanksgiving Blog - 11/14/08 03:39 PM
OK, some of you may think I'm a little bit of a religious fanatic but I don't care. (Maybe I am.) But it seems in my life that God has always sent just what I needed most when I was about to give up. I started real estate fourteen years ago. I was pretty successful my very first year and I worked hard, earned designations constantly and every year was better than the year before. In 2005 I had more closings and earned more commissions than my wildest dreams and had a great time doing it. And then...Well, you know. We (7 comments)
Have you ever met a REALTOR and wondered whose picture you've been seeing on their business cards, website and advertising? Why do we, REALTORS, put our personal pictures on things? I do it because I want people to recognise and remember me when they're looking for a REALTOR, and they do. I often meet new people and they say "I think we've met." After some conversation they remember, "Oh, you're that REALTOR on the back cover of our local paper, or whatever it is they've remembered. Now I know my money spent is worth it.
