ALMOST  WORDLESS   WEDNESDAY  ON  THE  CRYSTAL  COAST! Finally, some much needed rain here on the coast.  This lily was a gift last year.  When it died, I almost threw it out, but my daughter, Amy, said "Put it in the ground.  It'll come back next year."  (Amy hates to kill anything, from a weed to a spider.)  So look what a recycled gift I have! 
Right now it's really drinking up the rain.

A while back I decided that every Wednesday I'd try to post a photo that exemplifies Coastal Living.  This one was taken last year but sure speaks to me.  That gorgeous blond in the glasses right in the middle is yours truly.  Yellow shirt/glasses is my husband Ted.  On my other side is my priest, Father Everett Thomas.  Also in the picture is our daughter visiting from Utah, her husband and two of our grandchildren with their spouses.  Yes, you really do have more guests when you … (3 comments)

Almost Wordless Wednesday on the Crystal Coast! There's a tunnel on our little island of Bogue Banks.  It's one of the area's secrets.  Shhhh.   I can't tell you where it is but I can tell you three little grandsons think it's the most exciting adventure we have.  This is Jackson, Tanner and Tyler ready to run through the tunnel on our Mother's Day adventure. What if all you had is an old sepia picture?  My mother died when I was only 27.  She was a young Appalachian woman (1/4 Cherokee) who married too young, had too many children, not enough of anything else and died too young.  Cancer took her from us when she was only 48. I remember her working in the kitchen with a dress and an apron.  I don't remember seeing her in pants but I see pictures where she had on slacks … (6 comments)
