Animal Abuse Registry - 03/26/08 08:52 PM
The state of Tennessee has a bill pending that would require all those convicted of ggravated animal abuse or bestiality to register with the state.  Penalties would be imposed for failing to register or update their file if they moved.
This will be almost identical to most state's sex registries.  The state will maintain a web site with pictures and other relevant data just like the sex registration sites.
This bill has passed in the state house but is hung up in the state senate.  This sounds as if it would be an excellent attempt to minimize animal abuse and … (12 comments)

Fire and Pets - 03/24/08 10:56 PM

Something that we all need to think about.........The possibility of fire in your home when your pets are inside.  The thought scares me to death.  Recently on the news there was a story about a family who had a house fire.  They were all able to get out but their cats were not.  One cat waas saved by firefighters but 3 others died.

I also wrote a blog in December about memebers of my kennel club who were out on Christmas Eve when their house caught fire.  They lost 14 show dogs. Only some pups and the mother were … (10 comments)

Easter Sunday - Twink Goes to the Collegedale, Tn. Airport(It's Not What You Think) - 03/23/08 05:47 PM
The Collegedale, Tennessee is a small, but, an active little airport located on the corner of Apison Pike and Bess Moore Road in Collegedale, right on the Apison border.  It caters to the Southern University, McKee Foods (Little Debbie); the Seventh Day dventist Church and local enthusiasts.
For a small are this is a very active airport.  You may have read about  tragic crsh after tkeoff about 12/3 years ago when four people were killed including the regional head of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  You will see mostly small single engine planes but there are  few antiques and a few twin … (2 comments)

An exhibitor in her setup getting a Poodle ready for show.
The Poodle Club of America National specialty show is coming up on the 11th of April in Salisbury Maryland.   This is the premier, eliite event for Poodles and I won't be there.  I'm bummed out!  I went last year for the 75th Anniversary show and had  ball.  I had reservations made at two hotels last year and now I have to cancel.  It seems that life got in the way.  I was sitting here thinking about it and all the friends and great Poodles I was looking forward to seeing.  … (4 comments)

AN Active Rain Sucess!!!! - 03/22/08 11:58 PM
Well, now I have my own evidence that it works!  Today a buyer that came to me via my AR blog, put an offer in  on a lake property.  He had called me about three weeks ago and inquired about buying land in Tennessee on Norris Lake.  After some discussion he decided to come down this weekend to look around.  He apparently found a nice piece of property on which to build his vacation home and made an offer.  I referred him to a friend who also works the lake and lives right there.  I do this on the occassions that … (14 comments)

I will be sure to keep everyone updated.  I hate the thought of putting her in her crate and shipping her like cargo but I have to.  Monday I will take her to the vet for clearance and she will probably leave Wednesday.  I am … (8 comments)

Today in Collegedale Tennessee, the annual ressurection pagent was once again held and the entire community was invited. This is definitely a treat for young nd old.  In this Easter celebration, the final hours of Christ's life, including the ascension, are re-enacted by means of  walking tour that includes camels and sheep and five hundred members of the Southern University student body.  There is music by various choirs from throughout the county and the public is invited to participate regardless of affiliation.  The pilgrimage walks through Collegedale, stopping at significant spots for a portion of the ceremony.  If you are in town … (0 comments)

The views from the back are of farmland.  This is a safe and convenient subdivision and is typical of wht you can buy in this price range in Collegedale Tennessee.

Spring Has Sprung in Tennessee-Ooltewah/Collegedale/Norris Lake - 03/20/08 11:46 PM
Today was the first day of Spring and that is evident all over Tennessee.  Tomorrow in Ooltewah and Collegedale the forecast is sunny with a high around 75 degrees.  t Norris Lake it is similar but just a few degrees cooler.  I also have noticed an increase in buyer activity which is typical of Spring and ll of my marina owners are scurrying around and ordering supplies for the coming season.  I have noticed baby ducks at the duck pond in Collegedale and I have daffodils and narcissus in bloom with Tulips threatening to come alive at any moment.  So folks, … (3 comments)

Speech. Recognition.. Assistance with physical difficulties/ Take 3 - 03/18/08 12:33 AM
I am becoming increasingly frustrated with this program.  This is the third attempt that I am making to dictate this BLOG entry because every time I speak a word "BLOG" the computer switches me over to my own BLOG page and I lose everything I've written.  He gets rather frustrating!

I started quite a while ago attempting to work with this program.  You may have seen my earlier attempt at using this.  It was rather comical and took a long time to process a few paragraphs.  Tonight's attempt to work with this has been an improvement.  By no means am … (4 comments)

SO WHAT IS REALLY UP? - 03/15/08 11:53 PM
I see conflicting signs everywhere.  Buyers anxious to pursue high end lakefront property and homes at good prices languishing on the market.  Are the buyers scared or is credit unavailable?  Do buyers feel entitled to the "easy" money that was recently available and resist having to actually pay anything to buy a home?  I have seen some who hve this attitude.  Are nerves settling or is he anxiety just heating up?  Are the government incentives and bailout programs really going to jumpstart the market again or were things just unrealistically active during previous years?  I have my opinions, but, would like … (4 comments)

OK you dog lovers, here is your chance to help!  You may have seen on the news or read in the paper about the elderly couple in Arizona that were hoarding dogs, mostly chihuahas and Pomeranians,  and also a few exotic birds.  All have been removed nd ccording to the web site of the Arizona Humane Society, they have also been adopted.   This hs placed a great stress on the resources of this orginization and they need your help in the form of any of the following; cash, crates, food, blankets, leashes etc.  I have posted a link for their site so … (4 comments)

She is at my house because her owner had to go to Brazil for a month and she needs to go to California when she comes in heat which is expected soon.  In the meantime we have been … (12 comments)

WEATHER REPORT Southeastern Region What is your weather like???????? - 03/08/08 07:58 AM
It is nine ine the morning in Collegedale, Tennessee in Hamilton County  Tennessee.  It has been snowing since about seven this morning.  My dogs are out and loving it.  There does not seem to be any accumulation anywhere except on the grass and parked cars.  I have been watching the Weather Channel and it appears that the same type of conditions will extend down to almost Atlanta where I am heading.  I just received a weather alert on my computer warning of freezing rain and ice on the roads  on the Cumberland plateau.  This is a worthwhile service that I signed … (17 comments)

Lions and Tigers and SNOW!!! Oh My! - 03/07/08 09:29 PM
The weather report for the greater Chattanooga area tonight is suggesting that we are going to have severe winter weather overnight and into the morning. Being a skeptic I have tended to dismiss it, however, tonight the reports re getting more and more expansive and prevalent.  It just poured buckets but it is still warm outside.  Not sure whether to believe it or not but they do seem quite serious and emphatic about the matter.  To top things off I need to drive to Atlanta tomorrow to pick up my friend's bitch for breeding.  Now I am in Ooltewah, Collegedale Tn. … (6 comments)

A Touch of Mayberry in Ooltewah Tennessee - 03/03/08 11:03 PM
ACE is the place, so it is said and in Ooltewah Tennessee it surely is.
No one can live in the immediate area and not pay regular visits to Ace.  Even with the big  super stores nearby there are products and services that you can only get at Ace.  For example; seeds by the pound, nuts and bolts and screws by the piece.  You can also get screens repaired, keys made, glass cut and paint matched and mixed.  They carry everything from clothing to cleaning supplies to lumber to mulch and lawnmowers.  Sometimes I enjoy going there even when I … (2 comments)
