I remember the first time that I knew that I was coming to Chattanooga, Tn. for an extended time period. I thought "Deliverance" then I came; with reservations, and never left! This is a remarkable microcosm of larger cities, but, with the friendliness and familiarity of a nice town. Chattanooga caters to so many areas of interest that it becomes mind boggling!
I would have to write a 200 page travel guide to cover things fully, but, just to start things off, here are some of the broad reaching activities that the area offers.

The once little town of Ooltewah Tennessee is growing in leaps and bounds as evidenced by this line of traffic and a full parking lot at the recently opened Wal-Mart. During the real estate growth years, subdivision after subdivision was opened and sold. With that came more banks and services. There are now at least five banks located in Ooltewah. The first liquor store opened a few years ago. There is Curves, several doctors offices, a shiping service, 3 pizza shops and numerous other things opening every day. In central east Tennessee is a little spt known as Benton Station Tennessee. lthough it is near Benton, it is considered a separate area. It was also known as "Murny". It sits south and west of Benton proper. Tomget to it you have to go to the other side of the Ocoee River. It used to be a central trading spot. The L & N railroad buiilt a train depot there and thus it was known as Benton Station. The name came from it's close proximity to the town of Benton. Today was an odd kind of day. It went from rainy and warm to now at 11 p.m. rainy and cold. In between there was some sunshine mixed with dark clouds in the distance. While I was way out in the country I glanced to my right and saw this. For me it had to be a sign; a sign that better times were ahead. I don't believe in coincidence and this rainbow was meant for me!

Well, I spent another beautiful afternoon with my friend and co-worker Bobbie and her dog J.P. out in the foothills of East Tennessee. Today we visited Starr Mountain located just slightly North of Cleveland, Tennessee in Etowah.
This beautiful land at the foothills of Starr Mountain is a new listing of ours and is situated perfectly. Convenient to Chattanooga, Cleveland and Knoxville, Tennessee and yet open and unrestricted. You can actually breathe and feel so in touch with nature!

What wonderful sounds an sites and smells are in Collegedale, Tn this time of year! I am not going to try to tell you a story, simply let you look at what I collected today from around town in the fall season.. By the way, this weekend was homecoming weekend for Collegedaale Academy and a lot of folks were in town to enjoy the season and many special events and old friends. There were several concerts and a gymnastic exhibit that I know of and many other events that I haven't caught up with yet.

This is the quaint little Post Office in the tiny enclaave known as Apison, Tennessee. Sandwiched between Collegedale, Tn., McDonald, Tn., and Ooltewh, Tn. this tiny little community is a quiet, country place to live. The houses are mostly modest. There is not much of a "town" per se, yet there is convenience to all that it's neighboring towns of Collegedale, Tn. and Ooltewah, Tn. have to offer and yet still is a great place to raise a horse as well as a family.

MARILYN She is home now at 16 months old. She is growing coat to go back in the show ring. She is turning out to be an intelligent, athletic and highly independent girl. Stuning to look at. She came home with 4 points and a HUGE bill for me to pay. Taking care of coat is not my forte so we struggle along. Today is supposed to be Marilyn grooming day.

Benton Shooters Supply a Candyland for gun enthusiasts! Located on Hwy. 411 in Benton, Tn. this place is a mecca for all those that enjoy firearms. They have pistols, long guns, revolvers and antique guns. Additionally they carry all types of ammunition, field clothes and of course targets, cases and tree stands. People come a long distance to shop here and their prices are quite good.

Today I had ocassion to visit River Ranch and I took a scenic drive and explored more parts of Polk County and the Delano and Benton areas. I thought that I would like to share more photos of this sleepy, growing community that I am slowly falling in love with.

Apison is a small community that is a sub suburb of Chattanooga and I guess a suburb of Ooltewah and Collegedale Tennessee. It is difficult to know the boundaries of Apison; it threads itself around Collegedale, Ooltewah and the south part of Bradley County Tennessee. There is a small post office located off of East Brainerd Road and there is a Hullco center and a small antique/trading shop but not much other commerce per se. And what to my wondering eyes should appear? A turkey in all it's strutting glory! Getting in shape to run from the Thanksgiving hunters I am sure!
This was the funniest Turkey I had ever seen. You see we were coming down Polk County Route 750 from the Hiwassee River Ranch when my friend spotted a tractor for sale that she wanted to investigate. I not being particularly interested in tractors, began to stroll the mini farm while she talked with the owner. As I described yesterday, East Tennessee is just easing into the fall season. Actually it was 85 degrees out this afternoon. My friend Bobbie, her dog J.P. and I set out to make a tour of the area near Benton, Tn. and Delano, Tn. Close to our new equine community. One of the places that we have always wanted to stop was the Savannah Oaks Winery on Delano Road. They also advertise items from the Sweetwater Cheese Factory. This is also AMish country so it is not unusual to see a horse and carriage go by.

Since the recent announcement that Volkswagon is coming to Enterprise South, it seems that there is a buzz of activity locally. For those of you thinking about relocating to the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, there will be many new things to look forward to and an electricity in the air.
I have seen that the local universities in and around Chattanooga, Tennessee, have begun ramping up their curriculum to accomodate Volkswagon's need for trained employees. Many of you remember me telling you about Twinkle a.k.a. TuTu's visit and her planned breeding. Well, Monday I sent her from Atlanta to California hoping that we caught her heat cycle right. Well guess what? The breeder called me yesterday and said that there was one breeding with a short tie. She is planning on attempting again today and then again on Sunday.
