internet marketing: A Gift for You: Ask a Broker the Dirt on Working with Outsourcing Providers and Virtual Assistants - 07/19/07 09:13 AM
Ever wondered what it would be like to have someone help you with your overwhelming work load? Have you heard about virtual assistance, about outsourcing professionals, about freelance project services for real estate, but have hesitated to try it out?
How would you like to ask a real estate broker for the real story on working with the offsite service provider? Want to know what works, what doesn't work, what he recommends and what he would recommend you avoid? Just ask!
Miguel Berger, of TechValleyHomes.com (and an Active Rainer himself) has agreed to host an event for all curious real estate professionals through … (2 comments)

internet marketing: Google Adds Ratings to Map Feature: What Will People Say About You? - 06/20/07 09:14 PM
Google has just announced the addition of local reviews to their popular local map features. So, just to see how this works, I popped over and did a search for my favorite pizza place nearby and did my first "user review" on Google local maps. It was quick and easy and I'll probably do more soon.
Growth in Google SearchesAccording to a recent report by Hitwise (released yesterday), Google carried 65.13% of all searches in the USA during May. This, compared to the 59.27% market share for Google the same time last year, shows that Google is only growing in popularity. No … (7 comments)

internet marketing: Attending a Net Neutrality Pow-Wow in Memphis - 01/13/07 07:02 PM
I've been here for a few days now, and I must say that the National Conference for Media Reform (NCMR2007) this year is excellent. I've been blogging the details on my "other blog," (I'm actually an 'official blogger' for the event) but wanted to be sure that I shared some of the information I now have that helps to explain why Net Neutrality is an issue that matters to Real Estate agents and brokers alike.
I met Tim Wu, Columbia Law School professor (specializing in telecommunications law, copyright and international trade) and probable author of the term Net Neutrality (see his paper … (1 comments)

internet marketing: Buyer Demographics: Marketing, Media and Working Women - 11/29/06 06:23 AM

Brace yourself as I go out on a limb...
Typically, it's the female portion of a household that does most of the legwork and the first round of decision-making when a new home is sought. The woman usually does the initial calling, makes first contact with agents, scours the home magazines, and gathers information about the schools, neighborhoods and the community. Many women "vet" the options and take a pre-qualified list of agents, homes, locations, etc to their masculine counterpart before the "cooperative decision-making" even begins. And, when a relocation is required, usually the woman juggles the lion's share of the … (7 comments)

internet marketing: Networking... Keeping It In The Family. - 11/09/06 09:22 PM
Ann Guy had an interesting post today about Networking and Family... and about how those closest to you sometimes forget what it is you do -- until after they have hired or recommended someone else to do it.
I think she brings home an excellent point in her post.
My family still struggles with EXACTLY what it is I do, but they know I love my work, they know I'm self-employed, they know I make a living on the Internet (which fascinates and confounds them) and they love hearing little "tidbits" about what I do.
So, whenever I have a family function, I … (3 comments)

internet marketing: Cool (Free!) Tools You Can Use To Improve Your Business: My Favorite Google Offerings - 11/09/06 12:21 AM
I'm a geek. I love the things that make living life online and working in a mobile world... a bit more "cool" than traditional existence.
With that said, I wanted to share a handful of my favorite Google tools and offerings for your perusal. Signing up for a Google account means you can keep all these things in one central (and easy-to-access) location. Because, no matter how wonderful the tool is... if you can't find it quickly and easily when you need it, you won't use it.

internet marketing: Hired Hands for Writing: Should You Pay "Per Project" or "By the Hour"? - 11/02/06 06:38 PM
The following is pulled from a blog entry I made earlier today on my personal blog to help a fellow writer explain why hiring hourly is a better choice than hiring "per project" in most instances.
After posting it, I thought that this group may be interested as well...
I got an email today from a fellow writer who asked if she should offer project rates or standard hourly rates for her copywriting services. Some of her potential clients had been advised by a real estate coach to always get per-project rates. She asked for my advice. For anyone who plans to … (0 comments)

internet marketing: Net Neutrality, the Internet and Real Estate Agents - 10/28/06 03:47 PM
The issue of Net Neutrality seems to be passing by many small business owners, real estate agents, independents and entrepreneurs unnoticed. This concerns me.
It concerns me because if things continue on the current path, those of us who depend on the Internet to make a living, to share information, to do research (unfettered by filters and directed web searches) may be endangered species.
I've been blogging on my own sites about this topic for some time, but I thought I should post a few "did you know" facts here for those agents and brokers who are interested in keeping their listings, their … (5 comments)
