real estate marketing: Niching Boosts Business in Tough Real Estate Markets - 09/27/07 05:41 PM
I have several clients who are niching their businesses HARD. I've been preaching "niche, niche, niche!" for years, but there's nothing like a tough market to make that niching come to the surface. For those of you who are still looking for a niche in your own market, I want to share some ideas from my current clients...

real estate marketing: Google Adds Ratings to Map Feature: What Will People Say About You? - 06/20/07 09:14 PM
Google has just announced the addition of local reviews to their popular local map features. So, just to see how this works, I popped over and did a search for my favorite pizza place nearby and did my first "user review" on Google local maps. It was quick and easy and I'll probably do more soon.
Growth in Google SearchesAccording to a recent report by Hitwise (released yesterday), Google carried 65.13% of all searches in the USA during May. This, compared to the 59.27% market share for Google the same time last year, shows that Google is only growing in popularity. No … (7 comments)

real estate marketing: How Important ARE Good Photos When Selling Real Estate? - 06/04/07 11:27 AM
I have a client who recently posted a great blog on why photos are important to listing real estate. His title? Poor Photos Degrade Property Value! - and I can't agree with him more.
If you have a moment, you may want to drop by and read his top three common problems with real estate photos and make sure you aren't having those issues with your own pictures.
Excellent online marketing requires using both visuals and descriptions to give the best service to clients and Jeff captures this with his beautiful, full-color examples of what to do, and what NOT to do. … (2 comments)

real estate marketing: How NOT to Sell Real Estate: My Rant of the Day - 03/14/07 09:40 PM
Brace yourself. I'm on a rant...
I'm currently spending a bit of time at the beach in Ft. Pierce, Florida. It's lovely. I'm here with my mother, my grandmother and two of her sisters.
This is what I went out to see this morning before beginning my work for the day:
(I love my mobile career!) Jealous, aren'tcha?
We are staying in a family member's condo for the week, but being me, I had to take a peek at the real estate market while I'm down here. And I found a cute little cottage that seemed to be well-priced. I showed it to my … (39 comments)

real estate marketing: If I Had a Real Estate Niche: Tiny Houses and Trends - 03/12/07 12:38 PM
A tiny house trend is becoming more visible on the real estate landscape. Personally, I'm thrilled with the prospect. I am a tiny house advocate. I'm building my own little house on my 25 acre farm. I believe that the trend of the 80s and 90s of real estate expansionism is a trend that is long overdue the impending death-rattle.
Yes, there will always be people who want the luxury properties -- the expansive, no-holds barred, traditional estate. And that niche is a lucrative one for many of my own clients. It's an enjoyable niche to market. The luxury arena is secure. … (5 comments)

real estate marketing: Yahoo! and Google Dabble in Real Estate - 11/09/06 10:26 PM
Most of you have probably heard of -- even played with -- the new Yahoo! Real Estate Search Tool, but I'd be willing to bet that very few of you have seen a "sneak peak" of the new Google Real Estate tool.
It's still in what I'd call "pre-alpha" -- although I have no idea what the Google developers are calling it -- and has been discovered via the back end by some people so geeky they make me look chic!
You can go take your own peek at this, the future of home search (IMHO), HERE.
It will be interesting to see how … (2 comments)
