August has brought some excellent weather here in the Pacific Northwest and has given me excellent opportunities to get out to see some crazy hot rods and motorcycles. Here are a few from the Beaches Cruise night that is held at Portland International Raceway every Wednesday through the summer. I was walking across the parking lot at the Clark County Fair last week when I spotted this abstract shot. I paused for a second to snap it and then caught up with the rest of the family for a day of carnival rides, tractor pulls, and viewing unusually large livestock animals. Those of you who have been paying attention will know that Janice started a transformation in October of 2009. After many years of being a platinum blonde bombshell she decided to make a severe change in her image. She went back to her natural brunette hair color. (Well, she claims its natural!)

It was my lucky day! The phone rang and the voice on the other end said, "I want you to list my house for me." I comped it out, drew up the listing agreement, and emailed it across to him. One of my favorite things about living in Vancouver Washington is the number of active hot rod clubs in the area. Every spring there is a string of hot rod shows that pop up and last throughout the summer. This shot was taken at the Rose City Round Up in Portland, Oregon. The Rose City Round Up is a fun mix of rat rods, pin up girls, and Rockabilly boys.

I shot this picture last week in a restaurant and it reminded me of a recent story. I was representing buyers in a deal where 2 days after we had the offer "signed around," the seller asked if they could keep the chandelier and replace it with a different one. Apparently the one in the house was a gift from a distant relative about 15 years ago. Upon hearing of the sale, the relative called and asked about the chandelier. I had a chance to take a "ski day" yesterday at Timberline in Mt. Hood. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and temps in the low 40's. One of the nice things about living in Vancouver Washington is that we have close access to so many beautiful places like this. It is ver difficult in color photography to shoot a picture that appears to really be black and white. I found this bathroom at a networking event last week and quickly snapped a shot without giving it much thought. Yesterday I had a little time to kill so I decided to take a drive along some of the lesser traveled roads in Vancouver Washington. I stumbled across some overgrown dairy property with a dilapidated cattle chute. It was covered with this beautiful moss! This little patch is no bigger than a 50 cent piece and when viewed with a macro lense it is so alive. I have been taking African drumming lessons for the past few years at a drum shop in Portland called Rhythm Traders. This is the chief drum builder and repair guru, Bryan. There isn't much that he doesn't know in the way of African drums.
