Lefty Frizzell, was an American country music singer and songwriter of the 1950s, and a proponent of honky tonk music. His relaxed style of singing was an influence on later stars Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, George Jone and John Fogety. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Frizzell was born in Corsicana Texas. One of his most popular songs was released in 1951, "If You've Got the Money Honey, I've Got the Time."

Pioneer Village is located at 912 W Park Ave, in Corsicana Texas. The Village is located at the famed "Watering Hole" where early day arrivals circled their wagons for defense against the Indians, the site today is a city park on land named for former Texas Governor Beauford H. Jester of Corsicana. The pioneer buildings, some dating as far back as 184 years, were reconstructed from historically verified logs and materials removed from the earliest settlements in the county.

I have been working on a FaceBook community page titled '365 Things To Do In Corsicana Texas'. I have searched for a profile picture that would reflect my area and be eye catching as well. This photo came to mind. My niece won 3rd place with this photo at a local art exhibit earlier this year. I appreciate the courtesy pic and the idea from Realtor.com to start the community page. Navarro College's Pearce Western Art Museum will play host to a national art show in January. The Seventh Annual Western Artists of America Show and Sale will open January 28, 2011, at the Pearce Museum located in the Cook Education Center on the Navarro College Corsicana campus.The show will feature the best of the American West; over 150 works of art by 40 of the country's top Western artists will be on display. Art patrons from across the country will be coming to Corsicana for the opening events scheduled January 28 & 29.

By the early 1890s the rapidly expanding City of Corsicana had outgrown its water supply, and the following year civic leaders formed the Corsicana Water Development Company with the aim of tapping a shallow artesian well in the area. Drilling began in the spring of 1894; but instead of water, the company hit a large pocket of oil and gas. The find, the first significant discovery of oil west of the Mississippi River, led to Texas' first oil boom.
