Come join the family fun as La MesaVillage is transformed into a Victorian winter wonderland. The event takes place on Friday and Saturday, December 13 and 14 from 5 – 10 pm. The festivities begin at 5:00 with a holiday parade on both days. Last week I wrote about the new Cohn restaurant in La Mesa, BO-Beau Kitchen and Garden and last night my husband and I set out to discover how well it lived-up to the reputation of the other Cohn Group restaurants. The place to be this Saturday night, August 17 is at the top of Mt Helix for the 6th annual HeART of Mt Helix. This exciting evening of art, food, drink and entertainment runs from 5:30 – 10:00 pm. and is staged by local volunteers to support the non-profit Mt Helix Park Foundation. Surprisingly located at the front of a rather non-descript strip mall, the Vine Cottage offers a unique La Mesa dining experience. The ambiance of the small restaurant is cozy and intimate with a bit of a European feel to it, and there is a charming outdoor seating area with plenty of heaters to keep things toasty.

My memories of the East County YMCA all revolve around the “Y” dance. Once a month, the Y, which is a couple of blocks from Parkway Middle School, (then Junior High), put on a Friday night dance, and for a few hours and $1 I was swept into the rock ‘n roll fun of the mid ‘60s. Nestled in the heart of the village of La Mesa is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego County. Tiramisu Trattoria offers a great dining experience in a relaxing and intimate setting.
