Sourdough Wanted - 05/31/07 03:16 AM
I talked to a friend tonight. He has given thought to selling his homestead in the Yenlo Hills but really doesn’t want to part with it yet. He spent a lot of time proving up on it. Then he spent money on a cabin and airstrip. Now he is offering a free place to stay if he can find the right sourdough. If the you or someone you know would like an opportunity to live in the real Alaska wilderness he would allow them to stay in his cabin. This would have to be someone who is pretty independent because there would

Hart Lake Estates - 05/27/07 11:59 AM
Hart Lake Estates is almost equal distances from Hatcher Pass, Palmer, and Wasilla. It is less than a one hour commute to Anchorage. These lots a all about one acre and are 100% usable. Natural gas, electric, and phone lines are buried in front of the lots ensuring that the birch forests will not be marred by unsightly power lines. Wells have proven to be at a reasonable depth with plenty of water. Here is one example. While wells cannot be guaranteed, so far, everyone has found plenty of water without having to go over 200 feet. In fact

Summer in the Mat-Su Valley...almost heaven - 05/26/07 11:09 AM
It's summer in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Winter seems like a lifetime away. Last January I wrote about showing houses in minus 39 degree weather but I can forget all about it now. I was looking for the AC switch in the car yesterday as I showed a Park City, Utah buyer around the valley. The photo below of Hatcher Pass is one of the many photos my daughter Teressa has taken of our area. Click here to see a few more. She takes some great photos, Ok...so I'm a little biased. I just ran across a great video of the Mat-Su Valley,

More Adventures in Alaska Real Estate - 05/14/07 12:12 AM
Summer in Alaska leads to different adventures. While winter cold makes showing reo properties interesting. The grizzlies are out in the summer. I don't know how many Realtors are advised to carry hand cannons when doing CMA's for out-of-state owners. I recently received a call for a lady in Oregon. She wondered if I could take a look at her property to give her a value. She hadn’t been there for about 10 years and although she still enjoyed the idea of owning her piece of Alaska she now had better places to put this money. She and her husband staked

Alaska No Longer Has Any Real Estate Agents - 05/03/07 02:48 PM
There are no real estate agents in Alaska. The Alaska State Legislature passed a law a couple years ago that eliminates real estate agents. This was done partly to take care of the problem of dual agents, but the legislature just decided get rid all real estate agents while they were at it. That doesn't mean we can't earn a living, we still represent buyers and sellers and we are still paid for our services. But we are no longer agents. The term agent carries legal baggage that was often unintended in relationships between buyers, sellers, and real estate agents. We are now only real estate licensees
