hap: Help for Ft. Hood area Home Owners - US DOD HAP Program - 05/05/11 05:23 PM

I've been getting a lot of questions lately about the HAP program. There's a lot of talk floating around about it, and sellers are are wondering if they even qualify for any of the program benefits.
The Home Owners Assistance Program may be of help to certain Ft. Hood home owners who need to sell and need some financial assistance to do so, but figuring out of you qualify for help takes a bit of analysis.
One of the best features of HAP is that it is NOT a short sale, and it does not affect your VA loan eligibility nor your credit report!

This seller used the Homeowners Assistance Program through the Army Corps of Engineers to help them with closing costs, real estate commissions, etc. If you need to sell and are upside down or short of funds to close, call and let's discuss your situation. If you have PCS orders out of the Fort Hood Area or are a Wounded Warrior with at least a 30% disability, you might be able to use the HAP program. This program is a great benefit for verterans and activy duty military personnel.

It's a simple question. Where do we go from here?
These sellers are a wonderful military family who understand that the local Fort Hood real estate market is in a state of flux. So they have made sure to keep their home spotlessly clean (with 4 children!!). They've installed a couple of upgrades to make sure they are more competitive in the market. They are ready to show at the drop of a hat.
