However, for the year, home values have risen in Brookside! These figures show a 6.5% increase in home prices YTD compared to the same period in 2021; buyers paying about 3% over asking price. Fewer homes sold so far this year; this could be a result of the higher interest rates that started in the Spring. Currently there are 14 active single family (4 comments)

Here in the dog days of summer...the selling and buying market is still very strong in Brookside! Usually from mid August to mid September, there is a slow down as people take last minute vacations, get kids back in school, have a long Labor Day weekend. Halfway through the year! How are Brookside home sales doing? Well, with interest rates continuing to fall, it's very competative for buyers right now. Well maintained, well priced updated homes sell quickly. Values are up compared to June 2019; year-to-date numbers are lower. As I reviewed these stats, I noticed home sales were lagging behind 2019 during the same period. Normally, April through June is very strong for home purchases--with the pandemic going on, I think we will see a slowdown in the coming weeks. My apologies for posting this blog a little late...the entire country is not in the usual routine! I'm going to keep posting home sales stats as usual, as I am curious how the pandemic will affect home buying and selling. We'll see the effect within the next 60 - 90 days. This is my first blog post in several days, and since then the Corona virus has taken over our everyday lives. Whew, the Armour Hills subdivision in Brookside continues to rise in value compared to the Brookside zip of 64113 as a whole. I think this is primarily due to location, the park amenity, the range of home pricing, a strong homes association and the charm of the neighborhood. Sales are steady, prices are up. Did you know there is a women’s consignment shop in Brookside?? I didn’t! It’s fairly new, having opened in April. Remix is a welcome addition for female shoppers who appreciate a bargain—and want to ‘recyle’ their stylish clothes.
Owner Catherine O’Sullivan moved here from Boston ten years ago. She has a background in fundraising, having worked for the KC Symphony and UMKC. But, she says, “I always had the small business bug in me”. She did a lot of shopping in consignment stores in Boston and decided to open her own shop here.
