Methow Valley Real Estate Buyers and Sellers Can Save Time With Smart Phones - 05/19/11 11:56 AM
Last night I saw a brief news blurb about two differing opinions on technology. One side claimed we are slowing down and there are no great economic opportunities in our technology future , and the other side claimed there is so much new technology coming our way, but it will be very advanced and only benefit highly skilled job seekers. I tend to believe the latter (MIT Scholar) simply because it is a slightly happier story about job opportunities in USA, but in any case technology is a big part of any REALTORS tool kit so you the Methow Valley real estate consumer can (0 comments)

Methow Valley Rivers Swell with Rain - 05/16/11 10:59 AM
Many people in Winthorp Washington and Methow Valley watched rain, and then more rain and then even more rain pour down swelling the rivers and streams in North Central Washington. Flood warnings are in effect for North Central Washington.
Here is a great website that monitors the Methow River in Winthrop Washington Twisp and Pateros: http://www.methowvalley.com/highwater.html Here you can peruse various graphs about the water in the Methow River and check out a web cam (that constantly refreshes) of the Methow River in Winthrop that is updated every 5 seconds or so. The Methow Valley will enjoy an abundance of rain this weekend. Although many folks are concerned about the possibility of rivers, creeks and streams flooding a good way to take your mind off this is to get out to the garden. Here are three tasks that are great to do in the rain:
Great time to transplant your perennials, small trees and shrubs. So grab the shovel and start redesigning the landscape around your home. Make sure to dig a big hole where the plant is to go first, and then take plenty of dirt around the plant you are (1 comments)

Methow Valley is located just east of the Pacific Crest Trail and South of the Canadian Border. Even though many Canadians would consider this region very warm, for us US citizens it is the cooler part of the country with a far shorter growing season. Looks like spring is arriving late and that means that my house has starts in every room in every window. Here are some simple gardening tips for Methow Valley: Without getting some of your favorite plants started early, there is little chance they will have enough time in the garden after the last frost of spring and (0 comments)

Wow, the whole town of Bridgeport is alight with the news that they may be hosting our president. Even if they are not the final choice this year for his high school graduation visit, they can be so proud that they were in the final running. I think that if President Obama does his homework he will indeed choose Bridgeport, Washington as his destination.
President Obama does not attend just any high school graduation after-all. You must have statistics that knock his socks off to be even considered for such a huge honor. Now he (0 comments)

Methow Valley, What a Great Place to Raise Children! - 05/06/11 04:50 PM
Parenting a child, one tries to think ahead to every danger lurking out there and prevent any of it from touching the lives of your most treasured responsibility, your children. I was visiting my sister and her little ones in Florida in a fairly urban community. My sister shared that in Hong Kong (where she actually lives) it is a fulltime job for her to keep her darlings safe while entertaining them simultaneously. I instantly noted how my sister watched over the children like a hawk and kept them very close at all times in Florida. In beautiful and rural Methow (0 comments)

Methow Valley Vacation Ideas for Avid Hikers in Early Spring and Late Fall - 05/01/11 09:35 PM
If you live in Methow Valley, you know about mud season. March when the snow thaws, although this year mud season was April, and November when the snow and rain start to come and go, fall and melt, fall and melt off. After working diligently all summer and only sneaking a few hikes in, I planned a trip in November to leave the Winter Wonderland in Winthrop Washington and go visiit my daughter in Southern California. What I discovered was a second summer as the temperatures stayed warm and the high country in many areas was snow free. Part way down the (3 comments)
