Along with cold weather, there is no surer sign that the holidays are here... than holiday parties. We have already had the neighborhood party, which was a progressive party going from house to house. This week there will be several others to attend.
So far, my favorite is the ladies golf party. Lucky for all of us golfing ladies, the clubhouse is a great place to host a party! Sunday, December 7, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm.is this years date for the annual Christmas tour in Viroqua. This event is always hosted by the Vernon County Historical Society. Tickets may be purchased for $6 at the museum on December 7. Refreshments will be served at the museum. I heard that this year there will only be 4 homes open, which is greatly less than in years past.

Without any great notice or fan-fair, finally on Friday Decker Street was re-opened to traffic.
It is a pleasure to see all those flashing roadwork signs removed and taken away. The roadwork that has been going on since early last spring appears to now be completed and over. It should help get traffic back to normal along highway 56, which is Decker Street and it should lessen all the traffic that was on Main Street. The good news might be short lived because next spring Vernon County raodwork Phase III will begin. That's the addition of an extra lane between Viroqua and Westby.

The Viroqua Decker Street road project has been going on for what seems like well over two years. The local home owners, the business owners and we, the drivers are all very anxious to see it finally completed. Just the thought of having highway traffic returned too normal should make us all jubilant. I cannot speak to how bad it may have been on a daily basis for all of those who lived through Phase I.
