Took this photo while playing some golf during my Flordia vacation. The orange stake signified a lateral water hazard. After carting over for my ball; I determined it was better to take the penalty rather than trying to hit that ball. I may have had to take a stoke but I got the shot.

Nearby Viroqua, WI, my husband has made a new little feathered friend, who happens to lives in a grove of pine trees deep in the woods. This little chicken-sized buddy also happens to be a rather tame Ruffed Grouse.  Grouses are sometimes also referred to as partridges and they are not usually friendly. Most Grouse spend their time on the ground in search of food and away from people or prey. If frightened they often burst into flight or freeze statuesque and still, as their feathers are good camouflage.  Grouse are rarely sociable and it is not often you would ever see one close up.
