What is it about that house?

You see a photo, or you drive by a house, and it just makes your heart do a little flip. And then you see others that have all the same features – 2-story colonial, 2-car garage, 1/4-acre lot. But they don’t make your heart sing. What was it about that other house?

Just like finding a mate, sometimes what attracts you to a house isn’t found in search criteria. For instance, I have visited, previewed, listed, lived in and owned many homes in my lifetime. And it was only recently that I spotted the difference between a home that fit my criteria and one that made my heart sing. And what a crazy thing it is, too! It is the deeply pitched roof. Yes, a deeply pitched roof – and why? A little reflection brings clarity. The deeply pitched roof is the stuff of fairy tale cottages. So, deep in the recesses of my childhood experiences, there lies an idyllic place where dreams come true.
