windsor ct: I'll Just Keep Looking 'Til I Find The "Perfect" House! - 07/26/11 07:37 PM
I'll Just Keep Looking 'Til I Find The "Perfect" House! How many times have I heard that before? In 26 years selling real estate , more times than I can count. So how do you answer that? Well, I've always told my buyers, there are not too many "perfect" houses out there. So if you think you're going to keep looking until the perfect one comes along, you better decide if you want that home BEFORE you get to heaven! I know, we all want to believe that it's really out there...the PERFECT house! The truth of the matter is, that

windsor ct: Why Do they Call it a Short Sale if it takes So LONG??? - 06/07/11 07:54 PM
Why Do they Call it a Short Sale if it takes So LONG??? Well, I think that is a really good question!! But before we try to answer that question, it's important to answer another one... What is a "Short Sale"? A "short sale" is a sale of a property where the sale price is not enough to pay off the homeowner's remaining mortgage balance and all the expenses that a Seller must pay when selling their home. In other words, even if they sell the house at "full price" or market value, they are still coming up "short" of what they

windsor ct: Is It A Good Time To Buy A House in Connecticut?? - 10/28/10 02:56 PM
This is a GREAT time to buy a house, and if you're wondering why, take a look at this recent post by my friend Melissa McKinney. Prices in Hartford county, CT are very affordable right now, and so are interest rates. And of course, when interest rates rise, you will lose borrowing power. On a $200,000 mortgage, at 4.00% your payment will be about $1292.00. If interest rates rise just one percent to 5.00%, the same monthly payment of $1292.00 will only qualify you for about $180,000. mortgage. That means you've lost $20,000 in borrowing power, but that same property did NOT lose $20,000 in

windsor ct: Finding Magic for Real Estate Under the Kitchen Sink! - Blog About Anything Contest - 10/18/10 07:28 PM
Yes, I know I can blog about almost anything--but something from UNDER my sink? And make it apply to the hyper-local level? You've got to be kidding! Well, thankfully, I've only got two under-sink cabinets to check out, so it shouldn't take too long to find something. Did I really say that? I opened the bathroom vanity cabinet, and was amazed at the amount of products two teenage girls could accumumlate in one place! Even so, not much of interest as far as blogging material goes. I guess I'll have to check out the kitchen under-sink cabinet. I'm sure it's not

windsor ct: Those Were The Days...Real Estate Then and Now...A Look at 1985! - 10/15/10 06:16 PM
I can only imagine the day to day of real estate 25 years before I got into the business. So for the "newbies" to real estate, here is what it looked like 25 years ago -- Doing the business of real estate in 1985: BECOMING A REAL ESTATE AGENT THEN: I took just six weeks to take the required course work for your real estate license--and the sixth week was just the final exam. NOW: The requirement for Principles and Practices is up to 60 hours, usually over a 15 week period. Although I did find one real estate "school" that

windsor ct: Priority One: Gumby and Desert Places - 10/10/10 12:16 AM
Welcome to my Priority One blog series. I start my week on Active Rain on Sundays with a post about the Christian walk, or something from the Word of God that has been encouragement to me. Today I was chatting with a friend online, and at the end of our conversation, we exchanged prayer requests. We both asked one another to pray for God's specific direction in areas where things are just not so clear. I thought about my own situation, and hers, and it became clear that we are both experiencing one of those "desert places". So what is a "desert place"? And

windsor ct: Priority One: Revival and Repentance - 10/03/10 02:22 AM
Welcome to my Priority One series of blog entries. Each week on Active Rain I start my week with a post about the Christian walk, or something from the Word of God that has been encouragement to me. For almost two years now, there is a small group in my church -- not unlike many others at churches everywhere across the country, I am sure -- that has been meeting weekly to pray for revival. We are asking God to come and visit his people once again. We are looking for another "Great Awakening". Surely as we look at the state of our

I am late with my post this week as I like to post my blog entries late Saturday night so you can share these Priority One posts with me on Sundays. Nevertheless, God IS first; and Sunday or not, I am starting my week with a Priority One post! We just had an intensive week of meetings at my church this past week. Kicking off on Sunday, we

windsor ct: Fall Season of Change - Thinning Things out in Windsor CT - 09/22/10 06:33 PM
Fall is indeed a season of change - we see that oh so clearly in Connecticut as we enjoy the myriad of colors in the changing leaves of autumn, and the cooler temperatures which require us to change our wardrobes from sleeveless tops and sandals, to sleeved blouses and open toed shoes, and eventually to a light jacket or sweater and a full shoe. In business, our work day changes as well. As the chillier weather sets in, I tend to start work a bit earlier, and end a bit earlier. I shift more of my showing appointments to earlier in

windsor ct: Anyone Got Cables? I Need a Jump Start! - 09/21/10 11:43 PM
Yesterday, I got a call from my husband. Any chance I could give him a jump start? When your battery gets low, sometimes there's just not enough juice left to get the engine running. That's when it needs an infusion of energy from another source. It needs a jump start! So I asked him where he was...He had just stopped at the ATM at the bank in Windsor center, pulled through the drive-thru, and headed through the access lane that runs between two buildngs as it leads back to the main road. And where was I? In the drive through lane at the

windsor ct: Priority One : Expectation! - 09/19/10 01:31 AM
Welcome to my Priority One series of blog entries. Each week on Active Rain I start my week on Sunday with a post about the Christian walk, or something from the Word of God that has been encouragement to me. For some time now, I have been dealing with delays. Big delays. Repeated delays. Things that I have no control over. These delays are well beyond "inconvenience". If it wasn't for trusting that God is who He says He is, and that He will do all He says He will do, I could easily give in to discouragement. In fact I could wallow in

windsor ct: Where Did it GO? And Who Said it Could Leave?? - 09/13/10 11:07 PM
I walked back into my office and had to look twice. It caught me by surprise, because I guess I just wasn't expecting it! Yes, that IS what it was: a SWEATER on the back of my chair! I didn't even remember grabbing it as I walked out of my house this morning, but here it was. The evidence is clear. It is really not summer anymore... I thought about it and realized there had been other signs around me, but I had been trying not to pay attention! Yep, those black-eyed susans have been dropping their petals. Usually I find

windsor ct: Priority One: Finding Rest - 09/12/10 02:24 AM
Welcome to another of my Priority One series of blog entries. I am choosing to start my week on Active Rain on Sunday with a post about about the Christian walk or something from the Word of God that has been encouragement to me. This week I have been very busy... and at times, very tired. I have a bit of the work-a-holic in me, and I often try to push through my busyness with a mantra of Phil 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. But should I? Today I am looking at what God has to
