real estate agents: The "What If" game - 08/08/10 10:58 AM
I do not like the "what if" game.  When I was new in real estate, that took up all of my time and most of my money.   There is no end to "what if".  What if doing X gets you a listing or a buyer?  All it takes is just 1 sale to make X worthwhile.
You can advertise on supermarket carts, on bus stops, on buses, on billboards, on the radio, on TV, in newspapers, in magazines, on the internet, direct mail, etc.  You can do open houses, door knock, give away pens, telephone, join groups and go to meetings every … (1 comments)

real estate agents: Realtor Financial Problems - 05/31/10 12:48 PM
I have had an interesting weekend with some of my friends, fellow real estate agent.  For a little background, our prices have dropped over 50%, 75% in some parts of town.  Yes, houses that sold for $200,000 are now selling as short sales for $50,000.
R is the top agent in our company for dollar volume.  He is 62 years old.  He does everything by himself.  No assistant, no partners.  You call him at 9 pm and he is addressing envelopes or with a client.  Because of our drop in prices, he is hurting financially.  He told me that he now has to work twice … (1 comments)

real estate agents: Sales Prevention - 04/27/10 04:38 PM
There are many blogs where agents brag about not returning phone calls.  Will someone please explain to me how not getting back to me so that I can show your listing helps your client?  Will someone please explain to me how not answering my clients questions and not getting an offer is beneficial to your client?

real estate agents: Just sell 1 home - 10/01/09 09:08 PM
I got another of my favorite email ads today.  It was for something.  It sounded interesting.  But they ended the ad with "It only costs $500.  If you get just 1 sale from this product, it will pay for itself many times over."  To me that is a big sign not to buy whatever they are selling.  When I was a new agent, I purchased a few of these.  It has been many years.  I am still waiting for my 1 sale.

real estate agents: Do you ever read the comments after you write them? - 08/30/09 01:04 PM
I just saw this in the comments section of a property.
"No financing available. Cash only. Purchase this property for as little as 3% down. This property is approved for Special bank owner mortgage and Renovation Mortgage financing."

real estate agents: Is blogging for points bad? - 01/01/08 12:05 PM
I have seen several comments about people blogging just to get points.  If someone does it, they get a higher ranking and a slightly better chance of getting a lead.  Is that bad?  Is that wrong?  I keep on reading posts about working smarter not harder.  Isn't that what the people are doing? … (19 comments)

real estate agents: The 12% solution? - 01/01/08 09:55 AM
Yesterday a friend of mine told me that he had read an article which stated that last year (2007) 12% of the real estate agents didn't sell a single home.  We then discussed part time real estate agents, agents with another job, semi retired agents etc.  Afterwards I thought about it.  If these are the people who are leaving the industry, they are not my competition, they didn't sell any homes.  … (12 comments)
