It's another installment of snappy happy iphone pics coming to you from the sunny shores of Maui. These are all taken in Paia - a quaint little beach town on Maui's north shore. Paia has a history as a sugar cane plantation town, and some of the older buildings date back to that era.

Water water everywhere on Maui - but no water meters
I met some nice people the other day and showed them around parts of Haiku Maui. They are interested in owning a property where they can be more self sufficient. Haiku is ideal for this, as there are properties already embracing alternative energies like solar and wind. We have nice steady tradewinds blowing most every day of the year, and the sun shines a lot too.
Having their own source of water was something that really appealed to them, especially rainwater harvesting (that's the new term for catchment water). We … (13 comments)

Instagram app for iPhone is addicting and fun
I can't believe it's been less than a month since I discovered Instagram for the iPhone, by way of Mashable.com. This is one cool app and social network. Sort of like Twitter, but you post pictures from your iphone instead of tweets. Follow and be followed.
Instagram is all about photos, and encourages using pictures in the moment, snapping shots of day to day life, and then running them through a selection of filters for varied results. Some of the pictures are truly amazing and very creative.

It's that time of year again... big wave season in Hawaii. The night of November 1 brought the first big swell of the winter season to Maui's north shore. We could hear the giant waves crashing on shore, all night long. By early morning the hard core tow-in surfers were in place at JAWS with their jet skis and boards. Hookipa Beach Park was closed out to surfers - too dangerous!
