Up near DeCoite's Packing House in upcountry Haiku Maui you'll find this classic scene. It's a great place for taking pictures if you like decay.   We dropped off a cow for processing about a week ago and we'll be picking her up in boxes on Thursday.  Nothing like grass fed Maui beef!

I wouldn't have believed this old gas pump worked until I saw somebody come over and actually use it!  I suppose the same could be said for the old truck.  I suppose one day they'll say … (5 comments)

Maui first-time homebuyers get another break from Maui County
For the third year in a row, the County of Maui Departmant of Housing and Human Concerns will offer first time home buyers up to $15,000 for a down payment and/or closing costs, starting in September 2011.  This Grant Program is aimed at low and moderate income families on Maui who might otherwise not be able to afford a home.  $300,000 has been set aside for assistance to the public this year.

Today it's raining in Haiku Maui which makes me think of rainbows.  We have been blessed with some stunning rainbows lately here on the north shore of Maui, which means things are growing and green.  

A little rain every morning, and some scattered showers through the day, what more could you want?

According to the Pacific Business News, Canadians have now overtaken the Japanese as the number one international buyers of Hawaii real estate.  The strong Canadian dollar has had a significant impact on their buying power, which means they can now afford to own a nice beach condo in Kihei or Wailea Maui.

I hope you are enjoying this summer solstice - it's the longest day of the year!  I can hear a lawn mower outside right now, the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day here on Maui.  Time to think about barbecues and long evenings sitting on the porch with friends.  Gardens bursting with goodness.  Flowers buzzing with bees.

If you have ever been to Makawao Maui Hawaii, then you know how cute and quaint it is.  Take your time to browse through the many galleries and gift shops, boutiques and restaurants.  This is cowboy country so you know you can find some cowboy boots and a good steak dinner if nothing else.  It's just a 15 minute drive upcountry from the beach town of Paia, and well worth the drive.

What does a VW have to do with Maui real estate you ask?  I snapped this in front of my Wailuku residential listing the other day at final walk through.  It's a classic Volkswagen Bug and check out the plates!  
The owners of the SOLD home are very happy to be closing a sale in this tough economy, and walking away with money in the bank.  It was a quick sale to a cash buyer from the mainland.  The wife said "I can't believe it sold so fast!"

2 oceanfront homes have recently sold in Paia on the north shore of Maui Hawaii.  These happen to be the only oceanfront sales in this area in the past 12 months, which marks a pick up in oceanfront activity, at least for this location.

Paia town, on Maui's north shore, is an old fashioned town with an old fashioned elementary school that has been operating for 98 years.  Here's a nice picture of it with a rainbow overhead.

They are in the process of replacing the school cafeteria which burned down in 2005.  Due to some unforeseen setbacks including zoning, things are happening slowly.

Driving home from Wailea Maui to Haiku Maui takes you by these dramatic skies over Puunene Sugar Mill. An incoming plane load of tourists will soon be enjoying all the wonders of our island home.

It's not a storm brewing, just the late afternoon clouds piling up against the side of Haleakala mountain.  A quick short cut across Hansen Rd. saves having to run the gauntlet of traffic lights on Dairy Rd. in Kahului.

The Mana Kai beachfront resort in South Maui is going a little greener these days, by upgrading the lawn to a more drought tolerant grass which will require less watering.  Isn't that a great idea?  You can see the landscaping job underway next to the pool.  That's Keawakapu Beach in the background, right next to the resort.

 
Currently at the Mana Kai there are 2 active listings... $949,000 and $999,000.  Both units have wonderful ocean views overlooking beautiful Keawakapu Beach.  Maintenance fees are $986/month.

I found this beautiful oceanfront spot while viewing some vacant land for sale in Waiehu Maui.  A little hard to access and 4x4 recommended, but worth the drive.  I would love to see this beach on a day with big waves.  Take a look at the short video and imagine yourself here on Maui!  Moments like this really make it enjoyable to be a Maui Realtor.
