Simple architecture in a climate where you don't need heating or cooling.  HALE (pronounced ha-leh) is the Hawaiian word meaning house or home.  This is not really somebody's home, but a hale in a park near the beach.

The nene geese in Haleakala National Park are so tame that I got some pretty good footage of them when hiking through the crater last month.  These 2 were just hanging out at the cabin hoping for a handout, but the rules say NO feeding the geese.  

The nene goose is endemic to Hawaii and is only found on Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii.  They are endangered and need to be protected.  Can you tell that they have evolved from the Canada Goose?  The markings are quite … (8 comments)

With the poor economy and the slow real estate market here on Maui, it has left me and other Maui Realtors with some extra time in the week when we would have been out with buyers looking at properties for sale.  I'm not complaining, but rather happy to have some free time.

I don't know the story behind these statues, but I snapped them at a Haiku Maui home for sale last week.  It was kind of cute with the mini me version next to him.
