The island of Lanai starts a new chapter with Oracle's Larry Ellison at the helm
It's no secret anymore, the deal has closed, and Lanai has a new owner.  
There's plenty of talk about Lanai being sold by David H. Murdock who had acqcuired the Hawaiian island in 1985.  The new owner is billionaire Larry Ellison of Oracle fame, said to be worth around $36 billion.  Ellison will own 98 percent of the island's 141 square miles.  Lanai is part of Maui County, in the state of Hawaii.

This month two very impressive beachfront homes sold that were side by side on Baby Beach in Lahaina Maui.  You would not have expected these to be bank owned and they certainly didn't look like your typical REO property.

I gave up trying to get the beans a full yard long, but i'm quite happy with beans that are only 18 inches long.  What's the best thing about growing yard long beans?  They are so easy to pick!  You can pick enough for a few meals and hold them in one hand.
Yardlong beans are easy to grow just like any other pole beans.  Give them some support and something to climb on soon after they come up.  The flowers come out in the early morning but fade in … (8 comments)

These guys call Maui home, at least part of the the time.  You can often catch them playing together or separately at Charley's Restaurant in Paia Maui, or at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului.

The video is very sentimental and it's nicely done with father and son taking turns singing lines from a Pearl Jam song.
I hope you get a chance to see them playing live on Maui one day.
