Getting creative with driftwood and junk in Haiku Maui. What do you get when you take some driftwood, corks, and heavy guage wire? A fun fish to hang on the wall! A neighbor had a driftwood party and invited a bunch of us over to get creative. She went to a lot of bother to gather piles of driftwood, and soak it and dry it to get rid of any creepy crawlies. junk: Art of Trash Maui 2017 - lots of recycled plastic junk

This year's Art of Trash event at the Maui Mall showcased some very creative artwork put together from trash and junk that would otherwise end up in the landfill, or as beach debris. I noticed a recurring theme of plastics in our ocean, which has become a monumental global pollution problem. We are drowning in a sea of unwanted plastic trash, and we are the problem.
