This week the weather has been exceptional on Maui, and Sept 6th the air was so clear you could see all the outer islands so clearly! That's Molokai in the background of the 2nd picture.
Both pictures taken at Ho'okipa Beach Park just on the outside of Paia town, on Maui's north shore. This day they were stand up paddling at Pavillions. Today when I drove by they were kite surfing at Lanes. It's a great park … (9 comments)

molokai: Confessions of a Superferry traveler - 10/12/07 06:52 PM

When I first heard about the Hawaii Superferry years ago I thought - it will never work. Remember the Hydrofoil passenger ferry from about 30 years ago? That was a good thing at the time, but they just couldn't make any money, and ended up going out of business. Now the Superferry plans on doing interisland trips, but they are going to be very expensive, compared to flying. We were very negative about the whole thing, especially the traffic impact here in Kahului Maui.

Anyway, a few years went by and here comes the Superferry to Maui, just as planned. … (9 comments)
