You Asked - How much does a building permit on Maui cost?
The cost of a residential building permit on Maui is based on the estimated cost to build the home, not on the square footage. You can find a lot of good info on the Maui County website, including a fee schedule which tells you how to estimate the cost of your permit.
Or, call a builder on Maui who will tell you that to build a typical 2,000 sf home it will probably cost you about $2,300-$2,400 for your building permit, electrical permit, and plumbing permit. Expect the permitting … (5 comments)

You can find Olinda Rd. originating from the town of Makawao and climbing up the windward side of Haleakala, through incredibly beautiful green pastures and tall eucalyptus trees. It's a slow enjoyable drive, which continues on up about 4 or 5 miles, and connects with Piiholo Rd. which originates by St. Joseph's Church on the northeast side of Makawao.

You Asked - How do I get a building permit on Maui?
A building permit is required for the construction, alteration, repair, moving and demolition of any building or structure within the county of Maui (Maui, Lanai and Molokai islands). Each structure on the property, such as retaining walls and fences, water tanks and sheds, will require a building permit, so plan ahead and do it all at the same time if you are building a new home on Maui.

Here on Maui it's a really big deal - a new Zippy's restaurant. Talk about pent up demand! Some people have been going every day since they opened about a week ago. And aren't we special...Maui Zippy's prices are slightly higher than those on Oahu.
