Conch shell blowing at sunset in Kihei Maui - short video Kihei Maui - Every day at sunset the tourists gather on the rooftop of the oceanfront Menehune Shores condo building to watch the sun sink into the sea, and experience the ceremony of blowing the conch shell! So we played tourist the other day and went along with our Canadian visitors to see for ourselves. We walked across South Kihei Road to the endless beach, where others were getting ready to enjoy the sunset. Keala O Wailea sales update and pictures of construction This brand new Wailea condo project by Armstrong Development is moving along nicely and they expect the first apartments to be ready by December of this year, a little later than originally planned when I first wrote about Keala O Wailea. No sales have closed yet since the construction is ongoing, but buyers are able to reserve their favorite unit.

The Makena Beach and Golf Resort in Makena Maui has closed it's doors as a resort. We were lucky to spend one more night there on the 29th, our anniversary, and it was bittersweet. Many happy memories are attached to this resort we love like an old friend.
It was always nice to stay at this unpretentious hotel on the south shore of Maui, because it was far from the more touristy resorts like the Grand Wailea and the Four Seasons. Another pretty sunset sky in the evening while enjoying the country life on our little farm, on the north shore of Maui. While tourists are sitting on the shore watching the sun sink into the sea, we have to content ourselves with this. We can't all have ocean sunsets every day!
