A new store offering custom bath and body products opened approximately ten weeks ago in downtown Winslow. Located two doors down from Café Nola's, they emphasize strictly custom products and offer customers approximately 200 fragrances and numerous colors from which to choose. Once customers have selected a fragrance and tint, products are made fresh for every sale. Bath Junkie asserts, "We want everything in your life to smell good, be good for you and be safe for the environment." For that reason they have chosen to carry cruelty free products, most of which are paraben and SLS-free. SLS stands for Sodium (0 comments)

Did You Know about the Grant? - 07/06/10 06:54 PM
Bainbridge Island is one of only 20 communities to win a multimillion dollar federal grant designed to help homeowners and businesses retrofit existing homes to achieve lower energy costs. To implement this, the Conservation Services Group will assess homes and give them a list of upgrades and retrofits. This assessment is a step towards eligibility for a low interest loan program funded by the grant. Additionally, Conservation Services will give out some small free upgrades like low-flow shower heads and fluorescent light bulbs. These figures contrast to last year's number of 80 sales for the first half of the year. Additionally, 40 homes are currently under contract and forecast July as another month of solid sales.
ISLAND HISTORIC TIDBITS ~ Exclusion Order No. 1 - 07/06/10 06:40 PM
In 1942, two months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the U.S. government issued Executive Order 9066 authorizing the relocation of 110,000 people of Japanese ancestry living on the West Coast in order to incarcerate them in isolated and desolate concentration camps.
