In a life with my share of "firsts," this is definitely a "first" for me....Blogging....what a fascinating term!! Until recently, I did not understand the purpose of blogging and did not really care to join in. Then, several colleagues started blogging and soon enough, I was curious and started asking questions. Blogging is truly a powerful way to give and share information, ideas, thoughts and beliefs with people all over the world who I may or may not ever meet!  Fascinating!

I am an native New Englander married to a Southern boy....we have raised our family in the Washington D.C. area and in Groton, MA.  Groton has been our home since 1991 and we love the ambience of the area.  Groton is a Norman Rockwell town only 35 miles from Boston, less than  an hour's drive to the ocean or the mountains.  We are known for our equestrian properties and our working farms, our prestigious private schools and our excellent public schools.  About a year ago we had our first traffic light installed in town!! We have no McDonald's or fast food of any kind, we have no movie theaters. We have fine restaurants and family operated lunch and breakfast places.  We have local theater, dance and orchestras.  We have a variety of cultural events and town fetivals, most notably GROTONFEST which occurs every September and  draws crowds from all over the area.  Every spring, we host the GROTON ROAD RACE, an event that incorporates a 5K, 10k, 2K races as well as entertainment for people of all kinds.  Top runners as well as hackers, collegiate athletes and soccer moms, join in the races.  For many years, Dick Hoyt has run the Groton Road Race pushing  his physically challenged son,Rick, in a wheelchair! The Hoyts have become a symbol of STRENGTH, PERSEVERENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENT  to me and my family.  Whenever, I face a challenge, I think of Dick and Rick Hoyt, and my challenge becomes manageable and a pleasure.

Speaking of challenges, I am completing a year in real estate that has provided me with many personal and professional challenges....I will blog about that next time....
