I would love to take credit for thinking of this clip but it was Dave Liniger of RE/MAX International. He used this clip to show how the banks became overwhelmed with foreclosures and just like Ethiel and Lucy they just simply lost control. Thoought this was really a clever visual.

foreclosures: Continuing Education Certification - Keeping Up

This past week I took a course sponsored by the National Association of Realtors(r) on "Short Sales and Foreclosures" which is the first step toward the Certification SFR Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource. This course was one day and was loaded with all kinds of helpful information so that I can advise homeowners appropriately if they are considering a short sale or headed toward foreclosure. There was a lot of information about what we real estate agent should not do.

foreclosures: Foreclosures in Westchester County, New York

According to County Clerk, Tom Idoni, Westchester County has seen an increase in foreclosure filings which are up 39% over the first quarter of 2006 and up 200% over the first quarter of 2005. This was reported by WCBS News and you can see the report and video here:
Westchester County is Not Immune
Despite these numbers Westchester County and New York State are doing a lot better than some other areas throughout the country. Nationally, New Jersey is 13th in number of foreclosures, Connecticut is 14th and New York is all the way down at 30th.

foreclosures: Basics of Foreclosures - Westchester County, NY

Everywhere we turn we are hearing about foreclosures and that many homeowners are now in a terrible situation. While the real estate market was escalating and values increasing the equity these homeowners had in their properties was increasing and if the properties were sold the amounts the seller's were paid would cover the loans. Now with home prices stabilizing and adjusting downward this equity is no longer there. Many individuals can be paying mortgages on properties that are now worth less than what they owe.
