lansing: Four Grand Rapids REALTORS I Met at REBarCamp - Get To Know Them Agents! - 06/17/10 02:01 PM

RE BarCamp is a BarCamp for Real Estate (R.E. BarCamp). What that means- the event is not structured like a typical planned conference. Every session is not planned out in advance. Nobody is paid to deliver a session. Anybody can deliver a … (1 comments)

lansing: Lansing, Michigan, Big Loser, Scariest City for Real Estate, THAT'S BUNK - 05/14/08 01:36 AM
Several news articles have broken in the past few days about how Lansing Michigan is the big loser when it comes to drop in housing prices, referring to the median price drop of 27%. What most articles always tend to leave out is that the national median normally is a typical market price, where half of the homes sold for more and half sold for less.
NAR President Richard Gaylord, said the U.S. market is very dynamic. "It's more important than ever to examine what's happening with home prices at the city and neighborhood level," Gaylord said. "The old real … (2 comments)

Thinking about purchasing a home of your own? Keep these critical considerations in mind:
How long you plan to live in the home.If you purchase a home and get a job transfer or decide to move after only a short time, you may end up paying money in order to sell it. The value of your home may not have appreciated enough to cover the costs that you paid to buy the home and the costs that it would take you to sell your home.
The length of time that it will take to cover those costs depends on various economic factors … (0 comments)

lansing: Lansing Media vs. Real Estate American Dream - 03/05/08 05:36 AM
Today I had to read again in the media about Lansing ranking number 1 as worst median price in the country. I addressed in a former post how these numbers mean very little, since most of the sales are taking place in the suburbs, and the other half is bank owned properties going at bargain prices. This is more of a psychological negative media tactic to try to sell bad news vs. educating the public on how to get through this challenging market with fruitful articles on why real estate is still the all American dream, still the best long tern investment, … (1 comments)
