nar: Attributes of Realtors Who Are Contributing to Our Real Estate Industry - 12/11/09 06:15 AM
I’ve met some really wonderful real estate brokers, agents and managers over the years, in addition to many real estate related ancillary business people who have inspired me by their conviction, dedication, and passion for the real estate business. As we begin to approach 2010 with new goals, inspirations, and challenges, I thought it would be a great place to begin by outlining what I think are some of the attributes  of those  professionals who are contributing to our industry.
This list is by no means complete, I’m sure some of you, who are a whole lot smarter than I am can contribute … (0 comments)

nar: Greater Lansing Real Estate Market Can Be Complex However Pending Home Sales Are Up - 10/19/09 02:23 PM
The Greater Lansing Michigan real estate market showed a substantial increase in pending and closed sales for weekending October 13, 2009 over last year the same week according to GLAR.

Pending home sales have increased for seven straight months, the longest in the series of the index which began in 2001, according to the National Association of Realtors®.
It's nice to see positive news for buyers, sellers and Realtors. The 3rd quarter real estate market report does not exactly illustrate much good news with the exception of lower inventories and additional units sold. Pricing in the greater Lansing area is still coming down to … (0 comments)

nar: REALTORS: What's Wrong With This Picture, Who's Responsible for YOUR Education - 10/11/09 12:01 PM
As I look at this chart from a recent survey taken by NAR that was sent to 47,000 Realtors, and received 1,189 completed surveys back, I am shocked, yet not surprised. This number is large enough for overall responses to be considered statistically valid. I see some odd responses that tell me things could be out of whack when it comes to where we learn about Technology for real estate. Look it over and tell me your thoughts. I have made 6 observations below the chart.

1. First and foremost is it disappointing that only 1189 Realtors responded, however apathy and lack of getting with the program could … (3 comments)

The National Association of Home Builders Organization released a new report recently that indicated housing affordability reaching an 18-year high due to low interest rates and pricing. Lansing - East Lansing Michigan was included as one of the most affordable areas topped by Indianapolis. That information comes with local good news that pending and closed sales are also up this week over last year at this time in the greater Lansing real estate market. (See Chart below)

The National Association of Realtors also had a press release last week indicating a strong gain in existing-home sales. These headlines and reports … (1 comments)

nar: Golf & Real Estate, Lansing, Michigan Has Both & They Compare Sometimes - 06/03/09 11:48 PM
I posted this a few years back, however it's worth another look in today's challenging real estate market. Golf and Real Estate are so much alike.  Sometimes you just have to go golfing to clear your mind.
In golf, weather conditions change your game; in real estate market conditions change your approach to business.
In golf, if you want score well you have to have the right equipment.  In real estate today the right equipment means being on top of the best technology to provide great pictures, websites, syndication, and communication.
In golf, if a golfer wants to score well, he … (0 comments)

nar: NAR Settles with Department of Justice! Who's Next? - 05/27/08 07:34 AM
NAR broke news today on settling the case with the DOJ on IDX concerns and how listings from multiple listing services are displayed on brokers' virtual office Web sites.  Now we can get down to business without having to worry about that. Oh! you weren't worried? This validates NAR's long-standing Internet data exchange (IDX) policy and strengthens the membership rules governing multiple listing services. We are at a cross-road where to much information is being thrown around the Internet without certain guidelines to protect the Broker and sellers. In addition to this settlement, I can see where the bleeding of $$$$ will … (6 comments)

nar: Lansing, Michigan, Big Loser, Scariest City for Real Estate, THAT'S BUNK - 05/14/08 01:36 AM
Several news articles have broken in the past few days about how Lansing Michigan is the big loser when it comes to drop in housing prices, referring to the median price drop of 27%. What most articles always tend to leave out is that the national median normally is a typical market price, where half of the homes sold for more and half sold for less.
NAR President Richard Gaylord, said the U.S. market is very dynamic. "It's more important than ever to examine what's happening with home prices at the city and neighborhood level," Gaylord said. "The old real … (2 comments)

nar: Lansing Area 4th Quarter Real Estate Market Update - 01/29/08 08:12 PM
Well, here's the 4th Quarter results for the greater Lansing real estate market, although it's history now, it does give us some solid facts and figures to measure our upcoming spring market for 2008. Note, that the report breaks down each community so you can get facts and figures on Grand Ledge, Holt, Okemos, Dewitt and all the other areas of Lansing. I have also included the NAR update on homeownership. The reason for this is because there has never been a better time to buy a house then right now. Interest rates are at new lows, there is plenty of … (0 comments)

nar: The Greater Lansing Real Estate Market - 11/15/07 02:49 AM
NAR recently released a counter campaign against the negative news that the media seems to focus on these days. (See Ad Here)  I wonder if we will read that 2007 will end up being the fifth highest volume in history for real estate sales from the press. We are in an adjusted market, after coming off record breaking sales from 2002 to 2005 at record breaking prices. The nice thing about supply and demand is that there is a great opportunity at this point for buyers to obtain the American dream of home ownership at lower prices, the lowest interest rates … (0 comments)
