1) Arrested Development: Season 1 -

I've yet to see a show with dialogue and plots this clever.  The story is about the son (Justin Bateman) of an arrested real estate developer who is trying to keep his family and business together.  He has to fight the whimsical self-centeredness of his family: a younger brother, who in spite of his education, is still living off his mother; the brother-in-law, defrocked of his medical license, who seeks to pursue a career in acting; an older brother that tries to be a professional magician but is usually conning his nephew for money.  The shooting style is unique, with a hand-held camera, and no laugh track, just Ron Howard (expertly) narrating. 

2) Brotherhood - Season 1

If you like the Sopranos, Showtime's answer to crime drama mini-series won't dissapoint.  Set in a fictional Providence neighborhood, two brothers, one a state representative, the other a mobster, fight for control over the neighborhood and their family.  You'll enjoy the complexity of the characters and the intensity of the storytelling, as well as those Baw-ston accents.
