I still believe that North Carolina is still a very affordable place to live. I have clients who live in New Jersey and pay close to $8000/year for a 1200 sq ft home. On my home in Huntersville NC which is in Mecklenburg County I pay just over $3000/year. The Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corp. will host a Monday April 4th groundbreaking for ABB, a Swiss company set to build a $90 million manufacturing plant in Commerce Station Business Park off N.C. 115.
The company plans to hire 100 workers to make high-voltage underground electrical cables to extend the U.S. power grid.
ABB, whose North American headquarters are in Cary, provides transmission and distribution equipment and technology for power grids worldwide. The company operates in about 100 countries and employs about 117,000 people, including 771 full-time workers in North Carolina.

According to the survey results, 97 percent of respondents consider Huntersville at least a good place to live, with 45 percent rating it as excellent. Huntersville's population is projected to have grown by 55 percent since 2000, to more than 45,000. The results of the 2010 Census will reveal the official numbers.
