Tis the Season
This is my last column for 2010 so forgive me if I tend to ramble a bit over some topics that don't get much attention otherwise.  The economy is definitely recovering in the Lloydminster region but we are still not out of the woods real estate wise, particularly in the single family home market.  It was an interesting summer with a four month sustained upswing in the sale of properties in smaller communities and adjoining acreages, although at times 15% to 25% below peak value.  Then it returned to the new normal; which means next to no activity … (0 comments)

The Importance of Service
Look up the definition of service in the dictionary and you will get well over a dozen interpretations, the first being "work done for somebody else as a job, duty, punishment, or favour".  I don't know about you but I sure can recognize the different attitudes when I am being served.
Let me give you an example.  Two years ago, just before Christmas, our television bit the dust.  So off we go to a long time national retailer who was advertising "Boxing Day prices before Boxing Day!"  Sure enough, there was a model we liked on sale … (0 comments)

Our children are growing and we need more space.  Would you recommend first placing an offer on the next house we want, or putting our house on the market, accepting an offer, and then looking for something to move to?
Vern:  It depends.  Obtaining an offer on your home before making a commitment on another one is often the better choice.  You will know how much equity is available for the next purchase, and it will be easier to arrange financing that fits in your budget.
