I can understand why some homeowners choose to go the route of selling without representation from a Realtor. The main motivation behind this sort of decision always come down to one thing, and that is the commission. However, before you consider taking the for sale by owner approach, please keep in mind a few things. Statistics show that when homeowners do sell their homes this way, in many cases they actually net less than they would have with a Realtor.
There is much more involved with selling a home than sometimes anticipated, especially when it comes to contracts.

Recent indication is that first time home buyers are getting tired of sitting on the sidelines. According to a recent online poll taken by the National Apartment Association, 17 percent of renters plan to make the jump to home ownership in the next year; 41 percent of the 2,041 respondents planned to be home owners within two years. Only 31 percent planned to still be paying rent five years from now.
