Bayside in Miami, Florida - 11/30/11 03:25 PM
One of the places my family took my wife and I while visiting Miami, Florida over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend was a place called 'Bayside'. It is a shopping, restaurant and entertainment district along the one of the major bays in the area, where boats dock right there. There is quite a nightlife there, with all kinds of music, dancing, eating and shopping going on. I enjoyed my time walking around and taking in the atmosphere of the district. The place has two levels, with stores and restaurants on top of other ones. You can stop at a kiosk and get

Big Amethyst Crystal - 11/30/11 12:57 PM
While I was touring the shops in an area called Bayside on Saturday night in Miami, Florida I walked through this store that had this large display of Amethyst crystals. I have always been facinated with this geological wonder, and took out my iPhone and made a quick video of it to share and remember. This was one of the largest samples I have ever seen. As you can see, it was quite stunning and beautiful.

Ever Kiss a Toad? She did. Almost... - 11/30/11 10:31 AM
When I was in Miami, Florida over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend my wife and I visited an Everglades site seeing place just outside if town. After taking a boat ride through the everglades, and looking at alligators and other wildlife, we returned for a small nature show in a little theatre they had set up. As part of the show, the man putting on the show pulled out a large toad and walked into the audience to have a lady right behind me kiss it. She did not really kiss the toad, but posed for a photo pretending she was. I

November Snowfall in Battle Creek, Michigan - 11/30/11 10:21 AM
Yesterday we got our first big snowfall of the season. It snowed in blizzardy conditions starting at around 2:30pm yesterday, and continued on through the night dropping an estimated 8 inches or so I would say of the white stuff. Considering that I just returned from taking a Thanksgiving break in Miami, Florida, this seems a bit surreal to me. I mean a few days ago I was walking around in a T-shirt looking for the shade, and today I am putting on long johns and looking for my snow boots. Crazy. Here are a few photos of the snow that

Hold Onto Your Alligator! - 11/30/11 09:42 AM
Okay, so when you spend 5 days in Miami visiting relatives, one tends to get cabin fever after a few days and venture out to check out the things in the area. On Sunday, my wife and I ventured with her brother over to the Everglades and took a ride to go look at alligators. We saw a few in the wild, and I even shot some video of a few babies on my iPhone which I included below. You have to really look to see them, but there are about 5 or 6 of them sitting there. After the boat

Armless Artist Overcomes Obstacles & Produces Beautiful Art - 11/28/11 12:08 AM
When I was walking through the Lincoln Mall Street area of downtown Miami the other night, I came across a man that was painting a picture while sitting on the sidewalk in front of a gallery. Now if you go to many of the cultural centers of some of the big metropolitan cities like New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Miami you usually encounter many kinds of artists creating and selling all kinds of art on the street. This man was a different artist. He was drawing and painting his pictures with his feet, as he had no arms. It

To all my friends at Activerain and around the internet, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving today with your family and friends. Daylight Savings Time = Shorter, Brutal Days - 11/17/11 02:56 PM
The hard reality of the impact of daylight savings on the real estate business comes like a crash in late November each year. The days grow shorter, and instead of showing homes in the lighted summer hours after a client gets off work, one faces winter darkness. One must confront looking at homes with a flashlight most often, or plan your home showings around your weekend days if your job prohibits you from leaving work sooner. Every year at this time I cringe when a client calls wanting to see a home after 6:00pm. Seeing a home in the dark, especially

NAR Convention 2011 Experiences & Winnings - 11/15/11 03:30 PM
Going to the National Association of Realtors conference to me is a great highlight of the year. This was my second year attending the NAR Convention, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned so much in the incredible learning sessions, and wandering around the Expo. I even was extremely lucky, and won an iPad at one of the booths on Saturday. I was in shock that I won, and had to immediately text my wife and tell her. I never thought I would win one, and had just about an hour before made the decision that I was going to get one

Enjoying the NAR Convention in Anaheim, CA - 11/12/11 09:21 AM
I am currently at the 2011 National Association of Realtors annual convention in Anaheim, California enjoying the educational events, the contacts I am making and also the Expo. This is my second year attending the NAR Convention, and it is one of the highlights of my year as a Realtor. There is so much to gain from attending this event! Day one I attended a learning session on the economy that was eye opening to say the least. I also learned a few new tricks in a marketing session I attended later. Then I visited the Expo and played some of the games

Sea Monsters Are Everywhere... - 11/06/11 11:42 AM
I was driving home last week, and could not help but notice the new artistic creation that suddenly was on display in front of one of the art centers around Battle Creek, Michigan. It is a scuplture that depicts a sea monster of some sort coming out of the ground. It definitely catches your eye when you drive by. I finally had to go back by there a few days ago, and despite it being a fairly busin road, I pulled over and snapped a few photos of it to share here on my blog. I never expected to see a

Autumn Photographs in Battle Creek, Michigan - 11/01/11 03:45 PM
I went to explore some walking trails around the city of Battle Creek this weekend, and of course took my camera with me. I love taking photos at this time of year. Autumn photography is something special. The color is always so amazing with all the golds, yellow and red of the leaves. They won't be around too much longer, and soon will have their branches bare. Nonetheless, I never tire of seeing the autumn spectacle we are treated to each year. Here are a few of my photos from this weekend:
