100 million in sales for 07-08 fiscal year! - 11/30/08 11:58 AM
$100 million in sales for 2007-2008 fiscal year?!?! I read an article yesterday about the Spungens family and their ball bearing business in Chicago. Peer Bearing Company was recently sold to a Swedish Company, for an undisclosed amount of moolah, and the Spungens shared 6.6 million dollars of their profit with their 230 employees! Each person's bonus was calculated by a formula based on years of service. One guy, who had worked there about 23 years received $35,000. I don't know why I found this so incredible. It seems like the "right thing" to do. A Company who has made

My Home Improvement Story Part II: Why you should always do the dishes first - 11/29/08 01:19 PM
The only thing I needed to do today were the dishes in the sink. But, a funny thing happened on the way to the sink; I decided to finish installing the travertine stone on the kitchen backsplash. The tile saw on the counter was starting to look like a permanent fixture! I just couldn't figure out how to decorate the darn thing for the Holidays, so my new goal was to finish the stone and get it out of the kitchen! I've already completed the stone on two walls- all that was left was that 5 1/4" strip from the counter-top to the top

My Home Improvement Story Part I: Why you shouldn't trust the tile guy & why God made travertine - 11/29/08 01:12 PM
My Home Improvement Story: Part I Do you ever look around your house for things to change? A couple of weeks ago I decided our 12 year old kitchen needed a little UPDATING. Hmmmmm, I checked the bank account - "No, ‘ still don't have gobs of money"....... What could be done for a small amount of money that would make a big improvement? (1)Stone back splash (2) Cabinet knobs (3) new faucet Starting with the stone, I went to the tile store, and decided on travertine, a natural material. The largest building constructed mainly of Travertine is the Coliseum in

Localism: Crystal Lakes Subdivision - 11/26/08 01:04 PM
Located approximately 50 miles Northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado, nestled in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest is the beautiful mountain subdivision of Crystal Lakes. At an elevation between 8000 and 9500 feet, Crystal Lakes is home for many full time residents as well as vacation/weekend homeowners. Many people camp out on their vacant lots in the summer, which is allowed by the association for 5 months a year. Originally platted into 1600 lots covering over 4800 acres, the subdivision is a little more than half built out. Fishing in Crystal Lake, Panhandle Creek, or the North Fork of the Poudre

Big Bad Real Estate Wolves - 11/24/08 11:29 PM
When I became a Real Estate Agent, I had no idea how mistrustful some people are of agents in our profession. I had only been on the job about a month, when a couple came into the office asking about prices on a few lots they had seen. I was looking the information up for them, and told them I would be more than happy to take them out and show them a few other lots they might be interested in. They looked as if I said "What's in your basket little Red Riding Hood?" No! No! - they didn't want me to

Localism: Glacier View Meadows - 11/24/08 05:57 PM
Glacier View Meadows is a mountain community located approximately 35 miles Northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado. Consisting of 1,042 2-5 acre lots, (half of those remain vacant) and spreading over 2800 acres, Glacier View Meadows has some of the most beautiful building lots in Larimer County. Many lots within the subdivision abut Forest land, and there are several designated open areas within this peaceful mountain subdivision. Spectacular views of the Mummy Range, hiking trails, 3 private ponds, massive rock outcroppings, mountain meadows and heavy timber make this a beautiful place to live. Community services provided by the property owners association include,

The Pot Belly Deli and Bar - 11/23/08 01:34 PM
For generations, the Historic Pot Belly Deli and Bar has been a favorite with locals and tourists alike. The little pot belly stove was an original caboose stove from a Union Pacific caboose, and the huge stone fireplace in the back dining room helps create that warm ambiance for group get togethers. A great place to meet your friends and play a game of pool, get a good meal, or sit out on the deck and enjoy the wonderful mountain views. A popular watering hole, the bar features state of the art sound system, two flat screen TVs, pool tables and darts. Sit down

Dead Seller not coming to closing? - 11/22/08 08:51 AM
It's a closing - not a surprise party! Many surprises could be avoided by reviewing our Title work when we get it. (For out of state agents - FYI -Colorado is a table funding state. Buyers and Sellers meet at the closing table, the documents are signed, and the money is disbursed.) Can you imagine being the poor closer who asks "... and is Mr. Grey going to join us?", only to hear that Mr. Gray passed away three years ago! Well, I guess the answer is "No", in fact Mr. Gray isn't coming, the documents are incorrect, we might need

Remind me why I'm here ! :-) - 11/18/08 04:33 PM
Ok, sometimes I get a little crazy. After living here for 12 years, and being in the Real Estate Business for awhile, I started wondering... what is it about the Red Feather Lakes area that would make people want to live here? Why would someone want to move here? Build here? I hate to say this, but the honest answer was,"I don't know". I can already hear the cries of indignation "Love it or leave it", but I DO love it: my question was "Why?" I started to panic, thinking if I didn't know why I wanted to live here, how
