Yesterday I was showing cabins in Crystal Lakes – Crystal Lakes is a mountain subdivision in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. It was a chilly day in Red Feather and as the day went on it was getting cooler. A drizzling rain that would certainly turn into a light snow after sundown began to fall as we neared the last cabin on the tour.

A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to show a few Red Feather cabins to a couple from Colorado Springs.
They were just up for the weekend and in between fishing and cooking on the campfire, they had been driving around looking for the piece of land that used to belong to Grandma & Grandpa.

Our daughter and grandkids took a train ride from Denver to Glenwood Springs last week. About 30 miles outside of Glenwood, the train was stopped because there was a large boulder on the tracks. They waited there for about an hour until the boulder could be removed, then the train proceeded on, slowly following the inspection truck to insure no other obstacles were in the way. I'm always checking "my tracks". From the moment we started planning to build, I referred to the structure as "the garage" while my husband, the carpenter referred to the building as "the shop". I managed to negotiate my half as "the garage" and his half is "the shop"- you can't park in the shop half. :-) When it's time to unload groceries it's just easier to park outside, but generally I park inside THE GARAGE! Well, my sweetheart carpenter had something going on in his shop yesterday and confiscated my parking space for the better good of his project.....then it snowed. We closed on this Red Feather Lakes cabin 2 days before Thanksgiving. With all the Holiday festivities in between then and now, it still seems like just yesterday! According to a recent article in the Loveland Reporter Herald: "Sales of High-End Homes Picking Up"! This is exciting news. that headline got my attention! Any improvement in any market is exciting, but this news is particularly interesting if you are a seller of a high-end (meaning over 400K) home. Presently we have 47 homes in this price range on the market in Red Feather Lakes and Livermore. All real estate is local; let's see if our Red Feather Lakes and Livermore markets are following that trend. .

The aspen are turning a beautiful shade of gold and the ranchers are moving their cattle from the summer high pasture down the road back home. Yesterday morning I saw only one driver trying to make his way past the bovine traffic jam(sometimes they cause a small slow down in your morning commute) but look at it this way, it's the only reason for a traffic jam and it only happens twice a year. Just like the opening scene in Northern Exposure, moose are known to frequent the Village of Red Feather Lakes and the surrounding area often. At first visitors may experience a little culture shock just like Joel, the New York doctor did in the show, too.
