red feather lakes colorado agent: Red Feather Lakes, CO - The willy wacky world of wheel estate and the wife - 09/29/11 11:24 AM
Red Feather Lakes, CO - The willy wacky world of wheel estate and the wife “He thinks he’s going to move me to Colorado to be out in the middle of nowhere so that he can hunt and fish all day,” she said. “But, I’m not going!” My first contact was with her husband who said he was looking for hunting land; I was calling him to make sure he had received the listing information that I’d sent. He hadn’t mentioned his delightful wife or any plans to build a home on this land … He wanted hunting land. When his

red feather lakes colorado agent: When is Brown Beautiful? - 02/16/10 04:32 PM
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of showing a few homes in Glacier View Meadows and Red Feather Lakes Village. I had contacted the buyers about a new listing on the market and they wanted to see it. They were surprised to find very little snow up here. Because of snow concerns, they had put off their plans to look for property until Spring! Spring is when we usually get the big snows. March in particular can be the snowiest month. I have seen it snow as late as Memorial Day! There wasn't much accumulation on that Memorial Day, but it was cold, wet

red feather lakes colorado agent: Are You a Jammie Pants Home Seller? - 02/02/10 10:27 AM
I'll admit I love my flannel jammie pants, they are very comfy; but when I'm going out, they certainly stay at home and I am dressed. Yesterday, when I went grocery shopping, I was amazed at how many people wear their flannel jammie pants to the store! There were jammie pants people in the cereal aisle and jammie pants in produce, in fact I probably saw 5 or 6 pair on my shopping excursion and the store was not that crowded. There are two ways to look at this: "It's terrible, people should really learn to dress for success and

red feather lakes colorado agent: Larimer County Sunshine - 01/29/10 01:40 PM
Red Feather Lakes is located in Larimer County, Colorado and enjoys between 300 and 320 days of sunshine each year. Yesterday morning, the clouds hung heavily on the mountain tops, we had fog, freezing drizzle, icy roads and a mostly grey day. It was a quiet day in the office yesterday. I joked when my Broker called in for her messages that I felt like the lonely Maytag repairman, as no one had called in the first hour that I was there. I guess not many people were thinking about buying their mountain homes in Colorado...well, maybe they were, they were just

red feather lakes colorado agent: I'm not trying to steal your puppies- I'm trying to sell your property! - 01/18/10 09:23 AM
It's really difficult to tell a seller, that their property probably won't sell in today's market for the same price they paid a few years ago. Breaking the news isn't easy; sellers don't want to hear that! Not all sellers are in this position, but some, unfortunately are. Recently, I had to tell a seller this and I felt like I was as mean as Cruella De Vil. I wouldn't be doing them any favors by telling them what they wanted to hear, I had to tell them the truth. The real estate market is what it is. Their thinking is that it

red feather lakes colorado agent: Fishing in Red Feather Lakes and Real Estate - 01/05/10 10:40 AM
When I was a little girl.....oh brother, don't you hate stories that start out like that?! I sound like an old grandmother! Can you see me staring off into space, eyes all misty, remembering the good old days? This is where you take a deep breath, the story is short ... and like most stories, I will bring it around to real estate, if that's what interests you! When I was a little girl, my Dad loved to fish. We would go quite often it seems, and after he got my pole all rigged up he would disappear for some serious fishing on

red feather lakes colorado agent: Was it the Blue Moon or was it Aliens near Red Feather Lakes? - 01/01/10 08:10 PM
A Blue Moon, that's what they call a second full moon in a month. There was a full moon in the first part of December and another one last night, New Year's Eve. Last night, as 2009 was going out, the brightest full moon of the year rose high in the sky. I'm not sure if it was really the brightest, but it seemed so to me. I'd been waiting to see the Blue Moon on New Year's Eve, something about it seemed magical and somehow very special. I'm still working on the night photo settings - these are what I

Yesterday, one of my friends sent me an email about the Importance of Walking, filled with excellent information about the subject. The article's main focus was on the growing trend of young families and singles moving to non-urban areas. This growing trend is seen in the number of new visitors to United Country's Website as indicated by a 49 percent increase in November of 2009 from November of 2008! The Wall Street article sited 3 distinct types of buyers of rural properties: (1) Younger people buying land as an investment, in

red feather lakes colorado agent: Just read it! Doggone it, I know it's boring - but it's important. - 12/18/09 10:44 AM
I've never heard of anyone saying , "I'm going to go home and snuggle by the fire and read a good insurance policy"! Many people don't understand Title Insurance; almost everyone in the Real Estate Industry would say it's important.......and it's boring. It's true! I've seen people nearly fall asleep in a Title Insurance class more than once! It's just about as uninteresting as watching paint dry or reading any insurance policy, however, I cannot stress enough the importance of READING the Title Commitment (or Preliminary Report) nevertheless. When I reviewed the last title commitment I received, I found the buyer's name

red feather lakes colorado agent: Get Your Ducks in a Row - 12/15/09 09:26 PM
On a chilly day last October, I stopped by Erie Lake in search of a mama moose and her twins but all I saw were ducks. After reading a great article the other day about "getting your ducks in a row", I wanted to use that line together with my duck photos from Erie Lake. The more I wrote about "getting your ducks in row to buy a Colorado Mountain Cabin" the sillier "get your ducks in a row" started to sound! Getting your ducks in row means getting organized, but where did the saying come from?

red feather lakes colorado agent: Holiday Sweets and the Spirits - 12/12/09 01:54 PM
Like you, I get a lot of catalogs and flyers in the mail this time of year. Mostly more stuff for the recycle bin, but once in awhile there's something of interest, like: Wilbur's Total Beverage Drinks- the Magazine of Fine Wine Spirits and Living If you're "wine challeged" like me, you might be surprised to know that when serving wine with desserts the wine should always be sweeter than the dessert. Personally, I believe I dislike sweet wine and usually vote for coffee, which keeps me up all hours of the night, thinking I should have opted for the wine! When in doubt, the go-to wine is

red feather lakes colorado agent: Homemade Christmas Memories - 12/07/09 02:24 PM
A Holiday Tradition at our house is the "Annual Gingerbread Man Decorating Contest". We usually get together the week after Thanksgiving, have a meal and decorate gingerbread men. Happy and busy children with flour on their faces roll and cut out the dough. The house smells "Christmassy" with the aroma of gingerbread baking in the oven. We have so much fun, passing sprinkles and icing around the table as well as compliments and giggles. A few cookies get eaten in the process, but not many. The voting (by secret ballot) is quite simple; the one with the
