Short Sales vs. Foreclosures -Is there a difference? - 07/27/08 01:39 PM
YES THERE MOST CERTAINLY IS! AND IT'S HUGE! 
Effective June 25th, 2008.  Fannie Mae, in their Announcement 08-16, ( https://www.efanniemae.com/sf/guides/ssg/annltrs/pdf/2008/0816.pdf )  has clearly indicated their preference for homeowners to do Short Sales rather than giving a Deed-in-lieu of Foreclosure or simply allowing the house to go to foreclosure.
