Aberdeen Proving Ground is the Army's oldest active proving ground. It was established on October 20, 1917. During World War I the Army realised that they needed a placefor testing munitions and equipment that was not located close to a heavily populated area. APG officially opened on December 14, 1917, and the first gun was fired on January 2, 1918 during a heavy snowstorm. The War came to an end on November 11, 1918, just as they got up and running with there testing missions. Today it is called "The Home of Army Ordnance" … (3 comments)
