60 Minutes of Misinformation - 05/16/07 08:54 PM
As a realtor, I questioned whether I would write about the 60 minutes segment that aired this past Sunday, but after a lot of spirited debate with colleagues, as well as people outside the real estate industry, I decided that it was prudent to do so. Plus I'm able to put my feelings in writing, which helps to get it off my chest. Continue

After three years of immense bickering between the Naples City Council and the Collier County Government, the controversial ‘fly-over' (at Golden Gate Parkway and Airport-Pulling Road) is about two months away from completion, albeit more than two months later than originally projected. Continue

Pre-Listing Inspection…A Good Strategy??? - 05/06/07 03:17 PM
In today's real estate market if you're seeking listings, it is all about pricing property correctly, unlike days gone by where you could price high and if the sellers were not in a rush, wait for the market to rise to the price. With the huge amount of inventory, pricing a property to sell usually means that it has to be priced at the lower end of the market and preferably be the lowest. That way, assuming everything being equal, you will have the best advantage of getting the property sold quickly. Continue

Not A Thing To Do With Real Estate...Viva el Cinco de Mayo! - 05/05/07 03:41 PM
Cinco de Mayo...what a great excuse to go out, party and drink margaritas with the best of them. Mason Ole, here I come! Is Your A/C System Running All The Time? - 05/03/07 06:36 PM

In the case of a resale home purchase, it is imperative that the system be thoroughly inspected, prior to the purchase of the property by a thoroughly qualified inspector. Maintaining your system following a purchase and keeping it top shape will help it to deliver maximum performance. My suggestion is that you have your A/C contractor on a scheduled maintenance program twice a year. When he is working on the system, I would ask a lot of questions, so that you are

Have You Checked Your Insulation Lately??? - 05/01/07 09:22 AM
Sometimes living in Florida, we tend to forget the importance of insulation in our home or one we are contemplating purchasing, because we equate insulation with loss of heat and not air. Although in most cases we have the home inspected prior to purchase, this is an area that goes unchecked, and with the high cost of energy today, it is extremely important to look at it. The most important thing to be aware of with insulation, other than the safety issues of urea formaldehyde and asbestos is the R value, or the insulating factor. The higher the number, the better the insulator, and there
